Not for the top 6 though imo I really hope they hit the trade market for mcdavid wing or Hyman would work too. |

poopty analysis. The idea that when he’s not scoring he isn’t bringing anything else to the table is proof you have no idea what you’re talking about. |

The issue is if he isn't scoring goals than he isn't bringing too much else to the team which brings us to the playoffs.
Huh? Tatar isn't a one dimensional goal scorer like Laine. He's a capable playmaker and responsible defensively. |

How is he going to be a buy low option for Edm if you guys keep talking him up like that, geez. |

Actually that notion is completely accurate, he's certainly no shutdown player, he was playing with Danault and Gallgher when he had his better totals who are both adept defensively.
I doubt he'll be back with the habs, but I'd say he's a decent gamble for you guys though if he gets around 3 million per year. He was garbage for us this year, but he's an alright 2nd line LW when he's playing decent. |

He's not great. He's a fine all around middle lineup W. He's just not some unbalanced player that is strictly a goal scorer and a liability at everything else. |

If he can had on a Barrie-like contract, I would definitely support signing him. Even if he isn't ideal in the playoffs, he can be a gap filler for a year as we wait for either another opportunity to acquire a top-6 W for that spot or for Holloway to prove capable of playing that role.
My preferred approach with him would involve signing him and trading for Foegele and swapping them between 1LW and 3RW as needed. |

I’m guessing that’s why the line was worse defensively without Tatar. |

Tatar was our best scorer in the last 3 seasons.
He's a very good player and would be a great fit in Edmonton or anywhere else if the pricetag is right.
The whole "keeps getting benched in the playoffs" thing is worrysome, but not enough for a team needing a solid top 6 winger.
It just won't be Montreal.

Danault matched up against other teams top lines in the playoffs and did a phenomenal job. Tatar was scratched for most of the playoffs. Our coach played Lehkonen over him in a top 6 role. |

Didn't MTR have a better record without Ducharme behind the bench? |

healthy scratches in Vegas and Montreal.
Again, I'd 100% sign the guy if I had a non-elite team, but I'd be a bit hesitant if I had legit cup aspirations. |

I don't think you understand the difference between facts and opinion. All I said is when he's not scoring he doesn't bring much; I'm not pretending thats anymore than my opinion from watching him fairly regularly as a Habs fan. I mentioned Danault did just fine shutting people down without Tatar for most of the playoffs and you had nothing of substance as a response. He had a bad season this year, but good offensive contributions the last 2 so he's worth a gamble. Stating your opinions as "facts" shows me how clueless you are when you started by telling the writer he had a poopty article. |

That doesn't necessitate that he's a strong defensive player; the other players that played LW on that line could've just been anchors. Given the rather small samples of being apart, I don't think there are many firm conclusions to draw from the data. |

Entirely possible, but again, it's undeniably something that has to be considered. Especially since his career playoff stats aren't exactly great. If it were just a one-off with one team, I'd write it off completely.
To me he is a good buy low target for most teams, but if I was running a contending team with legit cup aspirations, I'd have more interest in Jaden Schwartz or Brandon Saad.
Like for my Canucks, Tatar is totally fine. Oilers likely have bigger goals during these next 2-3 years so to me, the other 2 make more sense for them. |

Depends entirely on the contracts. |
