Karine Hains: You’ve Got to Know When to Hold ‘em I couldn’t have said better yesterday when I said it was the calm before the storm in Montreal. The expected storm started shortly after I posted my article when multiple reports indicated that Carey Price had been asked to waive his no movement clause to be left unprotected for the expansion draft.

TBH, I am OK if it goes either way with Price especially with Weber being likely done.

I think it would just be a kick in the bag watching price leave for nothing after the playoffs he just had. I get he has bad contract and the cap relief would be valuable. But at that point you are starting another rebuild.

My take is Seattle will be choosing between a risky Drouin or Kulak has an extra D.

Price is taking 1/8 of salary cap and with the Kraken choosing between 29 other teams, there will be a lot of cap going through it. Risky but I doubt he’s taken.

Weber, well he might retire, he won’t be taken.

Byron is a 4th liner that is way too costly. There’s better option for Seattle.

So who goes?

Byron is the perfect example of forward depth so I do think there's good chances he could be taken.

So quick question.

What's stopping MB to make a deal with Francis so they could select Price and retrade him to MTL by retaining 20% of salary to get more in return. Like a 2nd round pick with Norlinder or Lekhonen. That could make sense for both sides, doesn't it?

Another thing, I'm sure MB and Phil Danault must have an agreement in place to only sign him once the expansion draft is done. Not signing him makes him less attractable to Francis.

They can’t trade Price back with retained salary else NHL will have to put their words in it. It’s already been posted earlier.

As for Danault, they already said he was testing his UFA. Doesn’t mean he won’t come back though

Way too costly. There’s way too many better players then picking up Byron salary.
Guy been put on waiver a few times this year. Unless there’s a trade, I don’t see him being picked.

They'll get only a week to try to sign him or he goes UFA. I don't think that's a good option for them.

If you lose Price you are in rebuild mode. This team doesn't make the second round last year without Price. I think the potential for Seattle to pick Price and trade him to a another team is possible. Toronto would actually get past the first round with Price in nets. The first objection is Toronto has no cap space but I if they get a goaltender that can lead them to the promised land they'd give up Marner to make cap space. after being so close this year I'm not ready for another rebuild. We'd be looking at another 3 years on the 28 year drought. My only hope is Price's wife saying it'll all make sense in time.

I'm not surprised that Price Is being left unprotected In the expansion draft but If he can keep a really bad team like Montreal alive In the pretend playoffs he has some value.

i really think the heat just wears me out. it always has. i was rarely out in the yard except to take bits and pieces that we were removing from the (frank)ing curtains™ out to the side of the house until garbage day. but i ended up soaking wet. like gross.

one thing that was worth going out in the summer months for was a bbq brisket stacker sandwich i had at the bar yesterday before we started on the (frank)ing curtains™ though. oh and i discovered a new beer called sloop super soft that was pretty good.

hmmm, that brisket sandwich and beer do sound like a good time. so you were at a bar, are you guys completely deconfined or are there still any measures in place?

also, I'm not 100% sure what you mean with these "curtains" loll

The NMC follow Price to Seattle. He would have to waive it again to be moved. Won’t happen. Could goes to Seattle because her wife is from there and Price played for Tri-City, else the trading option won’t happen

pretty much just wear a mask if you haven't been vaccinated. some people are even following that rule!

oh that reminds me (cause she had a mask on), one more cool thing that happened yesterday. i saw this little old lady come in the bar, i mean little, like 5'0", and she ordered a beer with her food and i saw her take a big gulp and give it 3 fist pumps afterward. it kind of made my day.

i was removing these ridiculous curtains from my aunt's house. but they turned out to be like the curtains that hang over a stage, all decorative and ridiculous and there was all kinds of bullpoop behind them, like they were built into the walls. i'm not even done yet! i have to go back next friday with my drill.

well, she isn't THAT small...

seriously though that's awesome haha...

and about the mask thing, do people carry around some sort of vaccination proof or are they relying on people's general honesty?
