Next year should be better than this. Looking forward to seeing what Holtz will bring. He would have a year dominating the AHL and hopefully winning a Calder, plus a few months offseason to continue growth. We could have a nice piece come October.
Luke and the Russian I imagine being at minimum another year away, and that’s fine.
I assume we’ll make a trade or sign a nice UFA.
Maybe next year, as we always say. But for real.. with a team as young as ours, maybe next year is a valid perspective. All our kids should improve upon this season.. so basically half the team should be a little better by default.

Plus a new coaching staff. Maybe next year.

It’s a big maybe

We can add all we want up front, but honeslty nothing is going to change unless we address goaltending. Tough spot to be in as well because both goalies will still be here next season, unless Bernier is LTIR'd or retires then i have no idea what we could possibly do. The UFA market isnt exactly good either. So outside of finishing, goaltending is by far the biggest question mark beyond this season.

Well, its boring until this team does something. Friedman reported that the Devs were discussing players with term with Vancouver. Smith and Severson were mentioned as the bait. With those parameters, other than Boeser (although no term left) or Garland, not sure what else Fitz would be looking at (Petterson/Hughes/Horvat are their untouchables).

I understand we're getting to the point in which Severson is getting to the age in which he's going to want big money especially with the level of play he's shown while probably wanting to play for a team that'll be playoff bound. Trading him sooner than later to get max value might be the best place to find younger players that can supplement our long term core. Just wouldn't want to ship him out for picks and get a more established roster player who will help support Nico/Jack right now.
