I think he’s better than some of what we’ve kept. All I can think is that if the Dumba to Toronto rumor is true, Yzerman is clearing space to help with $ or a deal

I am trying to find out what is going on. Toronto has multiple deals cooking but no space. LTIR for Muzzin but still way over (3 million after Muzzin hits IR) but I have to think Dumba will get around 5

It looks like Ottawa isn't interested, nor is anyone else, in trading for Zadina. The effort is there, but not the talent. He's also been prone to injury. I think it's become a matter of addition by subtraction at this point. I disagree that Veleno will soon follow. Yzerman would not have tendered him if that were the case. Veleno is a premium skater. I think he could play a long term role as a strong 4th line center if he accepts such.

imo Zadina is a better skater and forechecker than Veleno. Don't see why you would keep one over the other.

For one, Veleno plays center. He's also faster, stronger and more durable than Zadina. The only thing Zadina does better is shoot, but that hasn't translated to goals, obviously. I'm firmly with Yzerman on this one.

Nylander, Brodie to Calgary for Hanifin, 3rd 2025 and futures. Just my opinion. So if it happens, you heard it here first. Robertson could be involved too.

I agree with feds91 What the hell is going on. When Yzerman first came over I was so excited and believed we were on the road back. Now not so sure, all I can say if we do not make the playoffs this year or at least playing for a playoff spot in the last week big changes need to be made at the top. Toronto has signed Bertuzzi and now Domi I hate Toronto but they have had a great offseason.

I'm fine with moving on from both but not when the roster isn't clearly being upgraded or when you lose a guy for nothing. Pat Maroon who can barely skate and is a fake tough guy even got a 7th rounder.

I suspect he tried, and the money may have been an issue. I suspect Anaheim or Chicago taking Zadina. One thing has changes, more right hand shots. That was a big need.

Zadina has only proven he was overhyped...see ya, and again.... convincing players to come to Detroit is probably no easy task..... not happy with free agent signings but again, today's players dont have the same care about original 6 ... location..... Yzerman is probably finding it difficult to lure quality into this mix... not to mention the fact most wings fans want nothing to do with star quality players who may have interest in signing with Detroit.... Debrincat or Karlsson.... hes not in an enviable position

Sure, but Maroon is at near league minimum with a one year commitment. Tampa retained 200k in the deal. If anything, I fault Yzerman for extending Zadina in the first place. I believe Zadina's future points to the European pro leagues. He's proven to be quite useless in the NHL.

Center vs wing? I would keep Rasmussen over Zadina.

In my eyes this is a heavier and more skilled team over last year. I’m excited about next season.
