Jeremy Laura: Svech to Russia, any Calgary interests?

Sounds like Lindholm is on side with extending in Calgary according to Pagnotta yesterday. Speculation Flames offer is 8 by $8.2mill & Lindholm is looking for 8 by $9.5mill. Probably a deal starting with a 9 will do it & to me best comparable is Barzal's numbers & his deal. I think it gets done. Hanafin will be moved. He would be in your top pairing. Would love to see either Edvinsson or Raymond & a top 10 protected 2024 1st come back for an extended Hanafin.

Backlund will get us a late 1st from a contender at the TDL but to trade him now if Conroy just wanted the cap space maybe a 2nd & 3rd would work for us.

I can see Hanafin nabbing a 1st and a prospect, but not a prospect of Edvinsson's stature. Kid is a stud. Raymond is finding his stride. I bet he gets 60-70 pts next year. No way Stevie moves him.

I think Hanafin would get a Fiala return as they are in similar situations. Yeah, Fiala was RFA but Hanafin is UFA next year and no one is going to offer close to what you're suggesting without a sign-and-trade. Hanafin, given his UFA status, has de facto veto power on any deal where the receiving team expects him signed to a long term deal as a condition. So Hanafin has say over his destination, the receiving team will know that, and they'll be able to lower the acquisition cost.

Well, Hanafin is 6'3" 208lbs, had 38 points last year & 48 the year before & he wasnt even on the #1 PP. 26 years old, said he wanted to play on a US team so would think that sign & trade would be in play. He would be your top pairing D. You gotta give to get. Offers that arent even as good as a TDL rental return (which yes he gets a pretty solid return, 1st + decent prospect + a conditional 2nd I would guess) wouldnt be worth considering at this juncture. The bidding war would be wild at the TDL & at that point Flames could eat a bunch of salary as well.

Personally, sounds like Lindholm is going to resign, so I would rather go after Nylander & build around a top line of Lindholm Huberdeau & Nylander.

I read Lind was more inclined to re-sign, but who really knows. Regardless, would really like to see him in red.....be a helluva an addition.

Hanafin has been a guy I've liked for a while, but no way I"m sending a big name to get him. I'd think he's most-likely gone, so it'd become a matter of waiting to see whether or not it truly happens, then jump in. I'd throw a low 1st, a 2d, Wallinder or MacIssac....

I like Hanafin so much that I would give the Flames Wally and a 2nd. Wally is signed for 3 more years on an affordable contract and may turn out to be a late blooming Cale Makar type (but not as good) I like Hanafin better because he is 40 lbs heavier than Wally and I see Wally getting injured more often than Hanny. Noah is also a year younger than Jake. But Jake would fit the Flames cap structure better than Noah.
Noah could allow Sieder to be more offensive minded, and if Noah has the chance he could take off in the rush also because Seider is very good at the defensive side as well.

No interest in Hanafin. Decent enough defenseman but likely isn't needed given just how many LD prospects the Wings have.

Lindholm is interesting but we all know there is no way Yzerman would give him more than 5 years on a new contract. I also wouldn't give up another 1st round pick after they gave one for a winger given the fact Yzerman keeps signing 3rd line centers hoping they can be 2nd line centers.

Yzerman's moves this summer tell me he isn't trying to contend yet and just buying time for the prospects while not being a dumpster fire. Wings need a few more prospects to not only make the NHL but become impact players before they become a serious playoff team and cup contender.

I'm disinclined to trade another first-round pick unless the player coming back is young and elite, not early-middle-aged (in hockey terms) and pretty good.

The draft lottery really screwed over the Wings. Yzerman did really well to get Seider and Raymond where he did, and I know there's still a lot of optimism about guys like Edvinsson and Kasper. But we really needed to walk out of at least one of those drafts with a Jack Hughes or Tim Stutzle caliber player, and we didn't. (Seider could get there but I wouldn't count on it.)

I know that picking 9th or 13th or 15th or wherever the Red Wings end up in the next year or two isn't likely to land a player of that level either, but at least they'd have a shot. I'm not giving up that shot for Noah Hanifin, even though I think he's a good player.
