Hawks are not interested in Gibson, makes Zero sense for the hawks and Gibson wants a chance to win |

This makes a lot of sense for Dubas. Jarry and Ned have been excellent, but if he can add Gibson for the cheap price of $6.4m/yr. as the 3rd string goalie with all their cap space, it would really fix the Penguins PP and skater depth issues. |

Pretty much captures my thoughts. Would it be too much to expect a check of Jarry's Goals Saved Above Expected and see he's 9th in the league? Oh well, that's kind of a boring statistic, GM's probably mostly look at W/L. Maybe they'll bring Fleury back, that would be a great story! But NJ will probably wow Minny with a big offer and snag him first. |

First I think fans need to understand where the Ducks are at before you think about this kind of trade. The Ducks are 7th In the Pacific Division. The Ducks are right now not tanking. In matter of fact the Ducks started the Season with alot of hope. We have a new coach, and a new promise of better things form the organization to the fans. But things have hit hard times. A 8 game losing streak really brought progress to a hault. Injuries have really hurt. And the team has really struggled when they experienced more fatigue. The Ducks even when healthy are a average speed team. With most of that speed In the backend. They have alot of skilled playmakers in there foward group. But no real burners in that top 6 fowards. So it's been a struggle to make zone entries and keep up a stong forecheck throughout games.
Now what has worked for the Ducks is Goaltending. Greg Cronin best move so far is to shore up the defense in front of the net. It's lead to a resurgence of John Gibson. I watch him and I see flashes of the old Gibby from before the tank. His Mechanics really got bad during the tank. And he seems to be improving those mechanics every week. I mean now that he can actually see the puck better he's gotten into alot more of a rhythm. And I'd say Gibson is probably the Ducks MVP so far. Luca Dostal has shown flashes of being good. But has had some bad games too. But it's still early in Dostal career.
Now about trading Gibson. To take away the best player this team has and replace him with a young developing player with a average track record is folly. The Ducks have made it very clear that they are tring to win. And derailing the development process could have consequences for years to come. Gibson still has 3 years left on the contract at 6.4 and I would consider those years prime for a Goalie. So considering these things the price will be high to trade for Gibson. And I doubt any team meets that price. |

so you actually wrote that the Leaf's would trade a 40 goal scorer for an 833 svg % goalie, and have him for three years WHY? Oh wait and pay him 6.4 million again WHY?
are you saying the Leaf's can't trade Willie for, two solid 3-4 Dmen or a number 2 with another player pick and a prospect.

Oh yeah. Just a side note. Manhattan Beach isn't close to Anaheim. But Long Beach, Downtown San Diego are pretty good places to live. Newport, Dana Point are expensive but seems to be preferable by the places Nylander might live. |

The Penguins are not looking for an expensive goalie Their issues are elsewhere Goalies have been the strength of this team Where do you come up with this BS |

Uh, you saying that Chicago has a lot of cap space and Bedard doesn't equal them having any interest in Gibson.
Is there even remotely a source for their interest, or just some basic math skills? |

Why would the Chicago Blackhawks go after a high priced veteran goalie? Whatever fake source you got that from, delete them |

Although I do think there is some interest in JG across the league… the ducks would have to retain salary probably 30%…
And the return would not be all that much.
Short of the injuries, we’d be be a much better spot….
Next year this team makes a giant leap… specially on the backend.

Nobody wants to ask the person who matters most in this scenario, Gibson's wife. There was an interview with her, before she gave birth to their 3rd child, in some ridiculous Newport Beach lifestyle magazine where she says they have created roots in the Newport/Corona del Mar area and they are looking to stay long-term. It didn't sound like someone who was looking to move. Similar to Getzlaf, his family was here and he didn't want to uproot them to chase another Cup. Which is ironic because the Getzlaf's got tired of all the bat-sh!t crazy crap going on in CA that he moved his family to Nashville.
And there is no chance in hell Nylander is going to live in Manhattan Beach and play in Anaheim. That's about a 3-hour commute. |

It has been speculated (unconfirmed, but widely speculated) that all the Canadian teams are on Gibson's no-trade list. He and his wife like California. They like it a lot. I laugh out loud every time I see JG linked to a Canadian team.
The only team on Ek's list that makes any sense is New Jersey, and the price will be steep - think at least Mercer and a 1st plus Vanecek to make the cap work - because the Ducks have no need to move Gibson, and in fact need him in the lineup to give their young talent the best chance to win more often. This doesn't make sense for the Ducks unless NJ overpays by a lot and it doesn't really make sense for NJ until they exhaust all other potential options. |

back in the day it wasn’t good either
Ovechkin to Nashville rumors, or Malkin to Chicago so he can be “The Man”, just a bunch of click bait now and back then, and Eklund taking credit for being the source in trades hours after everyone knew

Gibson is five years removed from a save percentage better than .906. $6.4M for this year plus three more years? That's a hard sell. |

It's not Gibson's fault. Just trade the Ducks what they want and Gibson will magically transform back into the goalie he hasn't been for half a decade. What could go wrong? |

It is widely known that Nylander would like to play for the Kings in SoCal...you can still live in Manhattan Beach if you are a Duck...is this an option for Nylander?-EK
That's a 3 hour (at least) round trip commute to the Honda Center and the practice facility from Manhattan Beach. |

Martin Jones is 3 years older than Gibson. Jones and Gibson got to their prime years then went into decline for 5 years. Gibson’s performance and onerous term and salary make sense for which team? Too bad Chuck Fletcher and Doug Wilson aren’t GMing anymore.
