Great to get the extra point and the win today.
Coming home with 2-3 points just wasn’t an option.
They need to keep grinding and build on what they have on the current roster. I think the team wants to play for each other and prove this squad has what it takes. I don’t think we need to be buyers at the cost of selling a draft pick or any of our top young guys in GR.

Good win. Glad they did no give up a loser point to an Eastern rival. All games in our conference need to be won in regulation to keep that cushion!
Spong getting a snipe on his old team had to be gratifying! Wings were still out played but manage to make a higher percentage of their shots count! Lyon came back in this game after having some bad outings. Good to be able to rely on Reimer also!
Wings must be holding Holl out so because they have a big trade for him.....................I wish!

Raymond is definitely pushing to the next level. He can be very dangerous at times. My hope is that he turns out to be a Braden Point. Lucas skates much better, so here is for wishing.

Kane is looking good, and given the fact he missed camp, and is rebounding from surgery, I think he can be even better next year. I see him deferring less now, which is nice to see.

Last year they fell apart after the ASG break, so this is progress. I know several people on here aren't Raymond fans, but I think he's becoming a really solid player. He's only in his 3rd year, he's only 21 and he jumped right from the SHL to the NHL. He had a very good rookie year, a typical sophomore slump, and he's on track for a 70-point 3rd year. Obviously Stutzle was the best pick in the 2020 draft and I think if the Wings had the #1 pick that year, as they should have, they would have drafted him over Lafreniere or Byfield, but Raymond is growing and Stutzle is on a pace to be down from last year. I do think they are comparable players and I think Det had the pick of that draft given they had the #4 pick. To me, it actually worked out better by not wining the lottery, if it would have meant them drafting a slow-footed Lafreniere at #1.

I'd still like to see Det get that crafty star forward with crazy hands & highlight reel goals, but that's probably not going to happen via the draft. Kane used to be that guy and he's still very good, but unless someone surprises us, we're probably not getting that player. Still, not a bad west coast road trip.

I'll also add, Detroit really, really needs some of these 2nd and 3rd round players to become legit NHL players. If they don't, they are in trouble. With all the assets they traded for 2nd and 3rd round picks, some of them better pan out. The last 2nd round player they drafted that became a legit NHL player was Hronek in 2016. In the four drafts since Yzerman has been at the helm, exactly 2 of 51 players have become NHL players. If only Edvinsson, Kasper and Danielson to become legit NHL players, the entire rebuild will have been a failure. If you look back at historical drafts, about 8 second round players per draft go on to have solid NHL seasons. That drops to 3 or 4 for those drafted in the third round. Detroit made quite a few trades to get extra 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks. It's a numbers game, but some of them are going to have to pan out.
