The Leafs thread broke on post 67. That's a good sign. |

Well, he wouldn’t be a fit for my team, but if I was a playoff team looking to make that last Cup push, I’d consider giving a 1st for Laine at 33% retained salary and a 3rd round pick.
I figure the 1st would be at least 22nd overall if not later, but the CBJ needs those picks. I can afford a late 1st if the kid helps push me to a late run.
I get them out of that albatross of a deal and I only take on 5.74 for two years. Then I can cut ties or see if he fits. 5.74 isn’t too bad of a dice roll for just two seasons.
I’d also want a little more of a taste. Not much. A 3rd rounder would suffice. That’s there in case the whole thing blows up in my face. And it certainly could. |

I kind of have to agree. And I did mention this in Zak McMillian's post.
Its a redemption attempt not a guarantee, high risk.
For some reason I have pictured Liane in a Senators Jersey. In a perfect world I see Patrik being an Alfredsson type player
He has to put his issues behind him and focus on rounding out his game.
Most likely to late, he may have to accept a role where he isn't "the guy" and be okay with that.

At his full cap hit I think it would be a risk. Maybe a mid round pick. Waddell is probably best just keeping him and hoping for a bounce back reason before trading him at all time low value. |

Greater than Matthews, obviously.
Or you should at least consider Laine’s value being greater than Matthews. |

Aside from one good season, why is everyone acting as if Necas is the next best thing since fire and sliced bread.

Probably for the same reason people think there are any Finn forwards in the NHL besides Aho, Barkov and Rantanen that can play |

Everyone seems to be under the impression that he's being misused and not getting minutes in Raleigh but it's simply not true.
Like the only forward who played more than Necas last year was Aho and the dude mustered all of 53 points. |
