No goalie, for years and years.

League average or worse (usually worse) goaltending will cripple even the best teams. It's impossible to consistently outscore that problem, especially in the playoffs.

The goaltending is officially an issue but the problems go way deeper than that. The Oilers have arguably only lost three games this season because their goaltending let them down.
October 22nd vs the Hurricanes - 3-2OT loss where the Oilers had the lead in third, Canes pressured and they couldn't hold the lead.

December 6th vs Golden Knights - 4-2 loss where Vegas scored three unanswered goals in rapid succession in the third period.

December 16th against the Leafs - 4-3 OT loss where Bouchard made two awful mistakes, both of which ended up in the back of the net and then not getting the save in OT.

The goaltending has not been solid this season but there are far more losses this season as a result of the rest of the team simply not showing up.

Oiler management, “hey we’ve got some capspace, let’s add more old forwards to the team”.
Knobby,”what about the D and goaltending?”
Oiler management “ it will be fine, we need more goal scoring”.
Knobby “what about qualifying Broberg and Holloway?”
Oiler management “ don’t be stupid nobodies going to sign them. Besides we need room to get Perry back”

Not sure the Oilers have enough cap space to bring him back until playoffs.

Waiver claim on Kapanen, just to give you more material to work with.

Awwww, you still upset over Trump's victory? You and Marwood should go get couples counselling and figure out who is the man is in the relationship.

Did Marwood hurt your feelings? Do you need your Mummy or maybe a big bear-hug from Lordy?

As an outsider, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Edmonton is : a very talented team with two of the best players in the world that always seem to have bargain-bin goalies. But yeah, the problem is obviously bigger than goaltending.

Those three games you mentioned represent four lost points. Add those four lost points and Edmonton jumps from fourth in the division to first. If I am Edmonton's GM, getting a true quality goaltender would be tops on the list and then go from there on the other stuff. Gaps in the defense won't matter as much if every lapse doesn't end up in the back of the net.

Easier said than done. I still believe in Skinner.
