(from the blog): "As such, Hayes - who centered Carl Hagelin and Martin St. Louis last season - could move to second line wing, skating with Brassard and Mats Zuccarello."
- So you mean Nash will skate with Stepan this season - cause Stepan's $$ automatically makes him the 1C and Nash for sure will play on the top line?
Or do you feel Hayes will fit in better with Brass-Zuke than with Stepan-Kreider?
I have Hayes pegged as a 20/45 scorer this season, should see more PP time to put him over the top. I just really hope he improves tremendously on his FO's but if he plays the wing on the top two lines then he doesn't need to worry.

It's more that I think AV will mix and match early to find the right combination, as he did last year. So I could see Hayes on the second line with Brass and Zucc or with Stepan and Nash or whichever other permutation you can come up with Brassard or Stepan.
Hayes has the ability to take over a game at times. His poise with the puck is very impressive. He can slow the game down with the puck on his stick and i legit think he'll be our #1 center within 3 years.

All ya gotta do is watch Hayes' goal against the Isles to see his poise/skill. Lock him up by seasons end, as long as no Sophemore slump occurs.

Good blog Jan, Hayes is only going to get better. He already showed the skill set he has last year. Now its just a job for the coaching to help him with the finer points of the game. Lock him up next year if they could, because he is going to command some serious money in 2-3 years.

Hayes will be our #1 in 3 years, not a bad thing to have 3 good centers. you win from the center out. I really dont see AV putting him at Wing, he is a natural Center and will get better at FOs.. I see at least 50 pts this year but wouldnt be surprised if he led our team in pts this year... He needs to get some PP time! him with Nash and Kreider would be a nightmare on the PP.
They really gotta let him develop at center and deal with the growing pains on faceoffs. Hes not gunna get worse at them.. lots of room for growth and moving him to wing just kinda limits the potential impact he could have for this clubs future down the middle
Hayes as our #1 Center is a big question. His faceoff game needs a lot of improvement, but equally as important for a center is skating and 2 way backchecking. He has yet to prove he can be a #1 on those 3 critical areas of being a top NHL center. If wing is were he can excel the best, I have no issues leaving him on wing, free to create more offense without the stress of being a key defensive position on the ice. Stepan, Brassard, Lindberg IMO would be a really good core down the middle with strong defensive play.
Zucc Brass Nash
Kreid Step Hayes
Fast Lindberg Miller
Stalberg Moore Etem

I think we're all getting ahead of ourselves thinking Glass isn't gunna play

The only thing Hayes had an issue with last year was faceoffs. His defensive game was solid. Probably had more takeaways than any other forward on the team with the same amount of ice time. Would rather have 3 strong centers than trust a rookie with no NHL experience to center the 3rd line.

Yea that is an interesting point. Some people don't' trust Hayes as a center but they trust Lindberg who has only 1 game of experience under his belt?

Yeah, that I don't get. Hey, maybe Lindberg will come in and have a fantastic camp. But as of right now, Hayes showed us what he could do last year and was a big part of the Rangers being able to have 3 lines as legit scoring threats. Miller was also really good with Stepan & Kreider. I don't understand pegging Miller on the 3rd line by a lot of people.

Yea I am hoping Miller gets a chance with Stepan and Kreider to start. Hayes might be just what we need to get Etem going on the 3rd line.

Miller did play really strong with Step & Kreid in the playoffs. I'm optimistic about Lindberg but admit he probably should start the year watching the game. I'm seeing Lindberg as the replacement for Moore so would be nice to get him some NHL experience. Hayes Etem Fast would be a really interesting and potentially solid line. Fast's 2 way play would be great there.

This is why i personally dont have Lindberg making the lineup. who do you take out? Glass?? we all know that AV would rather die than have that happen, so he is then competing with IMO a much more skilled bigger player in Miller and Etem. Stallberg is a vet and AV loves playing vets. I would love to see Lindberg in over Glass, but i just doubt AV does it.

Exactly, let Hayes carry the puck, and let Etem concentrate on scoring and thats it. With Fast and Hayes, should easily be able to cover up his defensive lapses.

Going to be an interesting training camp. Rangers should have 10 players that are definite, with the 2 wings opposite Moore on the 4th line as open spots. I just don't see where Lindberg fits either. Unless he has a fantastic training camp, or he moves to wing on Moore's line.

Thats the 3rd line I really want to see since we picked up Etem.
