It is time to win a game and start looking like a team. Hope B. Gaunce has a good game and earns a spot. Give him a shot with the twins, it is only exhibition but I like his work along the boards. |

It's pre season. Wins and losses count for nothing. Sending shinkaruk down is a bit of a head scratcher, same with pedan. Unless it's because of the France game, I don't get it. Both looked good and deserved 1 more game? |

Perry Pearn has lots of nice things to say about Shinkaruk today:

#Canucks AC Perry Pearn on Hunter Shinkaruk going to Utica: "Hunter was much, much better in this training camp than he was last year."
Says it is about them needing a full team to send to France.

Everybody can't make the team. It's as simple as that.

Neither is starting the season in Vancouver. Even if they played great in the next pre-season game they'd both be in Utica. No room for them.
Make them play so well in Utica that they force a call up. That's how to develop players successfully (see the Detroit Red Wings). |

Unless Grenier gets like 12 goals with the sedins... bye bye Grenier. |

France is a crazy country. They love comedy and their idol is Jerry Lewis. We should have sent Sbisa. They would love him and probably build a hockey arena right after.

He seems like one of Benning's boys(I doubt it was WD alone who came up with the decision to play him with the Twins) so I actually think a good showing could keep him up to live another day. |

The Subban thing still annoys me. Why couldn't they have given him a game or two and done the same with him? Even if he has like a 1% chance of making it, playing with some NHL'ers against a few NHL'ers would have been better for him and made him feel like they actually believed that he could make the team this year even if it wasn't the plan. |

Much stronger on the puck and he has developed 4-5 stride speed with his skating...much improved. Looking for a good showing at home. |

Agree on Gaunce, he looks so much better suited for the 4LC spot than Vey. |

It's probably about sending a message as to how close he is and how hard he's going to have to work still to make the team. He's got some great skills, and hopefully he's on the right track, but has a ways to go still. |

I have to admit this is a bit baffling. I get the fact that Utica needs players for France but not really at the expense of the big clubs development. Would have been real good to see Subban play against the Men to see where he stacks up. Shink and Pedan are down a game or two too soon. |

Putting Vey on the 4th line is just putting him in a position to fail. |

But why single him out?
Hutton/JV/McCann/Cassels are all first year pros and got games. I'm sure they said something similar to him, but I'm sure that if he's even half as competitive as PK that he's wondering why he didn't even get to lace em up for one game....I mean didn't he play in one last year and score a goal and then get sent down after? |

I'm not upset, I think the players were told well ahead what the plan was, which is why alot of the Utica players (or bubble players like Shink/Subban/Pedan etc) knew they were going to France which is why you didn't see them stick around or try harder. I think if they didn't have to go to France (which is a stupid idea as it is) you'd have seen them all stay another week closer to final cuts. |

Yeah, I'm shocked that they agreed to it. Tampa's doing it too, but their NHL roster spot is much more set in stone so it makes way more sense for them.
Not sure why Linden/Benning said yes, it's a cool experience and all but not sure if it's the best move for the franchise. |

Moot.
I'm sure these feeling you are talking about are your own and not his. If these prospects were down as easy as you over this stuff they wouldnt even try and be a NHL player.
You have to trick Subban into thinking he's has a chance to make the team this year??? You think he is that stupid? |
