Can't argue with the Carlyle hiring. I was dismayed when I read that news but the weird thing is I heard the players preferred him over Travis Green. So, if that's who they want, who am I to argue against it.
What's more troubling for me this season is the irresponsible handling of Hampus Lindholm and Rickard Rackel. Both player are vitally important to the success of the club this season and in the future and they are not in camp while the team learns a new system. Not to mention the bone-headed signings this off season which now necessitate dumping a really good defenseman for salary cap relief. I could easily see the Ducks missing the playoffs this year. |

And these predictions are why we in the West are certain no one from the East has any clue about hockey west of Chicago...
A for effort D for fact.
(Ladislav Smid won't need to be sheltered, he isn't going to play all season...)

I'd say they are one and the same except Tanner thinks the Oilers will win the west this (and every) year.
This blog exemplifies why writers in the east shouldn't bother opening their mouths when talking about the west. Hell I bet most of the leisurely fans from the east would agree that this blog is a joke. |

this time the blog is kinda wonky (bad) ye. But Ryan is not that wrong about the teams. san jose is really good, la can easily be great again, anaheim is in a tough situation with the coach but who knows... maybe he will work out, calgary is looking like they could be really good this season, edmonton is edmonton and no matter how much I like them or watch them I only see them barely make the playoffs if even that this year, vancover is just a mess. |

1. Carlyle had the Ducks in the Conf. Finals in 05-06 without Chris Pronger.
2. The Ducks will not be trading Ryan Kesler. The Ducks have had many years with Getzlaf and Perry where they weren't contenders. They became contenders again the minute Kesler was acquired. He's the most important player on the team and he's a bargain (to us) at under $7M.
3. Boudreau and Carlyle have nothing to do with each other. Bruce was fired due to ANOTHER game 6 and 7 chokefest and whether a better coach was available was not part of that decision. Bruce HAD to go. You can't be that under-prepared to close out a Game 6 four years in a row. Whether Carlyle was the right choice is most definitely debatable, but it's not fair to compare the two. Boudreau was gone even if James Tanner was the best available replacement. |

With the horrendous name change that Consol is going under, can those of you in Pittaburgh do us all a favor and come up with a nickname for the place. I understand we can't just do The Igloo 2, but I refuse to call it PPG Paints Arena. |

Hits and misses all over the place on this blog. I assume you know very little about the Pacific and are just basing most your comments on personal bias or word of mouth and very little on actually watching the teams play.
It would take me forever to point all the little things I disagree with but at the same time I would still say you got the jist of things.
SJ top dog barring old age factor.
The rest IMO could be absolutely anywhere come the end of the year. Kings and Ducks a noticeable step backward and every other team including Vancouver getting better and with solid young prospects/players potentially working their way into the line up.
Should be a very interesting year in Pacific. More parity than ever before. |

How'd Vancouver get any better? Seems to me it's buisness as usual for Benning and the boys.

LOL ... hit and miss on your Vancouver comment. Eriksson and Gulbrannson alone don't make Vancouver better. That is a train wreck. |

Haha good point. Kadri for Hart! But I'm sure you as a Rangers fan could agree that that statement is pretty offbase...
Sidenote- bold prediction of mcd getting Norris votes IF he is finally used as pp qb and Rangers make playoffs. I think he has had a few off years for his standards, but could see a big bounce back |

I think that Justin (Schultz) has Norris Trophy potential and I don’t think there are too many people who disagree with me in that regard.” — former Edmonton GM Craig MacTavish. |
