I will build upon this prediction. It will be a winger, one who will surprisingly seem unremarkable during the 2021-22 season at Grand Rapids. Following the season he will be loaned to his European squad for 2022-23. Despite playing in a less taxing environment his decline will continue. Instead of being near the top of this mediocre league in scoring, he will not even crack top-5 on his own team.
Hopefully my prediction is wrong and this does not become a repeating pattern. |

DET Swede fetish aside (and who doesn’t have said fetish?), I’d skew European players if I’m drafting in the top 10 given the dearth of games for many North American prospects. |

Dude, that’s dark…
I’m not really worried about Raymond at this point. The club had a big ask from him to improve his game defensively. A lot like what Zadina has done, Raymond stepped up. It’s a tough reboot |

I would keep my eyes on German and Czech players. Those programs seem to be cranking out better players. |

We won't miss Helm, because Vrana is a lot like Helm in his prime. Trust me, I watch the Caps a lot. Vrana is Helm 2.0...even though he's never played center. Great take. Just like Erne was Abdelkader 2.0 who is preventing guys like Turgeon, Hirose, Ehn from getting playing time. I was laughed at for saying Erne was an NHL asset with upside whereas all of those other guys don't belong in the league. Anyway, every winner needs a guy like Helm so we're in good shape for next year. |

From the minimal time I've seen Vrana, the only similarities with Helm are speed.
Helm can fly but that is it. He is also a solid defensive player.
Vrana can fly, shoot, and has solid hands. He seems to be a bit of a liability in the defensive zone. |

Detroit will draft #6 or 7 and take Luke Hughes or Brant Clarke.
Blash gets another year, unless Lane Lambert gets the Yzer-nod. No rumors on Torts or Gallent coming this way.
Vrana gets a 3 x $4.9M deal. Bert 3 x $4.25M. Erne 3 x $1.75. Raz 2 x $1.3M. Svetch 1 x $1M. Cholo 2 x $1.1M. Linstrom 2 x $1M. Hronek 3 x $3.5. Smith 2 x .95M
Glenny, Ryan and Bernier are targeted to come back and Gagner maybe later.....
Neilsen bought out, Danny Deke weathers the storm.
Svetch goes to the Kracken
Hjalmarsson, Krejci, Stasny, Ian Cole, Martinez, and Tatar are all my 2 yr hopes for stop-gap players. (Obviosly not all of them) RNH on a 5 yr x $7M deal would be nice, but I doubt that happens.

You’re right. Speed wise, he’s every bit as fast as Helm was in ‘08-10. He’s scoring at a crazy rate, but regardless his shot is better than anything we’ve seen on the rush. He wasn’t producing in Washington this year. If he improves his defensive game he could be scoring 4-5 SHG next year (if he makes the PK). My initial assessment, especially concerning his offense, was way off. I’ll own it, it happens. I don’t think Vrana will score on 50% of his shots going forward, but he could well eclipse 30 next season. Very impressive on the rush, not good defensively yet. |

Ok, you put in a ton of work there H2. I’d love RNH, it would be a huge boost at the center position. Thanks for taking so much time with that. I’ll book it |

Wings Draft (possibly trade up a couple spots to get);
William Eklund - He can play Centre and Wing. Stevie Y likes that versatile type player. |

Ok, Wings end up with 7th pick and take Jesper Wallstedt. With the uncertainty around all these players from lack of playing time, why not?
Blashiill does not return. There were some important steps forward this year as a team but statistically almost every single player underperformed. The powerplay has been pathetic for two years and with Detroit’s level of talent it should be at least middle of the pack. Heck, as a coaching staff, the zone entry “plan” needs some work. The penalty kill isn’t much better.
Does Steve hire Gallant? I think this could be the shot in the arm the team needs. And in this case, maybe a coach does help ticket sales.
Off season trade? I’m gonna go out on a limb here and make a bold prediction. Detroit takes Stamkos, first round pick and a second from Tampa (in separate years) for either Svech, Cholowski or Smith and a third round pick. |

Stammer to Detroit would only happen if Stammer wants to be here. Very slim chance if any. It would take a lot to entice a team to take on the oft-injured super star though, I'll give you that.
I think Tampa makes a deal with the Krack to take on salary with another asset going their way for doing so. Either McDonagh or Johnson + the asset(s). McDonagh can be exposed to the Krack but cannot be traded w/o his say so....full NTC.

Prediction:
Wings win the lottery and select Owen Power. Just because of the cosmic irony of the Wings finally picking first overall, after their best finish by standings placement in five years, in a draft year in which there is no consensus No. 1 and no prospects are widely considered to have franchise-altering potential, immediately after the NHL switched the rules to disallow more than two lottery wins in five years. |
