Interesting............550 hits in his NHL tenure. 49.9% FOW......1yr, $850k. I'll take it.

Yeah, his average last year (only 19 games) was 57% in the dot. Glenny will be missed as that bottom lime faceoff guy. Not sure if this is the thinking here or not. There was some thought that Stephens could bump up to 3rd line c with Ras taking the wing

Could also just be a Covid depth body.

Yawn.

Impression: fourth liner who is above average but not great defensively, fairly bad offensively, very solid PKer.

I think he's better than Glendening but that's a low bar.

5th line with an I 96 bus pass? Very possible.

I will miss Glenny at the dot. If we can get similar support on pk faceoffs it will be helpful for sure

Wings need Bobby Ryan and maybe Ben Hutton for depth. Unless Stevie has a trade to bring on someone better.

I think Anisimov was mentioned as a PTO a month or so ago. I have to get used to Yzerman always working. With the new brass for GR, they may be loading up on waiver players who could come up for injury. The man doesn’t sleep.

Is it a one way or two-way contract?

Not worth a separate post. Frolunda HC beat the Czechs in CHL action 4-3. Former wing Jan Mursak had a goal and an assist for the Czechs. It doesn’t look like any Red Wings prospects hit the scoresheet, and i can’t get a box score.

Waiting to see. Hasn’t been uploaded to cap friendly. Will have to clear waivers regardless, not sure $amount for GR

Hey all. I know some of you have kids who need equipment each year. Pure Hockey.com is doing a close out sale/clearance sale etc. I’m not affiliated, just saw the sale and thought of some of you. Maybe a chance to get some sticks a little cheaper

Gonna be honest, besides looking at statistics, I know little to nothing about the guy. Injuries and COVID will happen, depth is a good thing.

Glendening was only 51.2% on shorthanded draws in the last 3 years combined. Larkin was actually better than him overall (52.4%) and in 2 out of the last 3 years.

Don't get me wrong, Glendening is one of the best in the world at faceoffs, but when margins are as small as they are and the vast majority of draws don't end up directly leading to goals, being an elite faceoff taker ultimately doesn't drive a whole lot of value. It matters, but far less than almost everyone says it does.

Basically if Rowney slots directly into Glendening's role as a shutdown 4C and is merely an average faceoff taker (54% PP, 50% ES, 46% SH) he's only giving up an extra ~2.5 expected goals per 82 games directly attributable to losing more faceoffs. If he can make up those 2.5 goals in other areas of the game (and I believe he can) it's definitely not worth sweating the faceoffs.

Not trying to open a can of worms here. I know this is a recurring topic of discussion.

We for sure go back and forth. Always know this though, I appreciate you and you bring something to the table. I put a premium on faceoff wins because of how it affects the flow of the game. Especially if you lose draw after draw in your own zone (or after an icing). But not going to go scorched earth on it. The game is a Swiss watch and faceoffs are one of the gears. An important one, but one of many
