Is it possible Larkin watched the replay and was forced to admit that slamming on the brakes at that moment put himself in vulnerable position leaving Joseph only a split second to react? Yeah sorry for the suckerpunch. I overreacted there, again. So while people made this out to be Draper-Lemiuex the player involved already apologized. Lol. |

Yeah, 60 shot attempts per game is not a good trending stat, that needs to be cleaned up quickly. D-zone coverage feels to passive for me.
Not sure why Osterle gets the start over Stetcher? |

I'd like to see them on the offensive as opposed to sitting back..... I realize the team is young and does not have the talent of a Tampa Bay or even Vancouver... however it is painfully clear, not just this young season, that Blashill coaches this team to wait for the play to unfold and take what is given... its a poor recipe in terms of garnering success.... the Wings are fortunate to have 3 of 4 points... I know I keep going back to Blashill, but he is the coach and has implemented whatever this style is.... let them play and possibly they can control a bit more of the game as opposed to constantly being on their heels watching the other team play..... |

It seems to me that the Wings are transitioning to a more offensive game style, rather than playing that low-event defensive style game. I still find it too reliant on their goaltenders with all the scoring chances that they give up. Hopefully they find a better way to limit these chances soon! |

Totally agree with you the coach is running a passive system, hockey is not a passive sport. They need to be more aggressive and learn to play faster. Yes mistakes will be made but I would rather them learn how to play with tempo this year and hit the ice next year knowing what it takes to compete in all three zones. |

Indeed Goalie Dad... its completely hindering development in my opinion... |

Possible? Maybe. But then, it's possible that a 747 may fall out of the sky and squish my guts out through my nose. Not likely.
And you should've posted what truly happened: "...BOTH players involved have apologized." "I found out that Joseph reached out to Larkin via text and both players apologized to each other."...................but, that's Kool.... |

Hey Matthieu. Sorry for that dirty suckerpunch that got me suspended.
Ok. I'm sorry you got hurt Dylan. I wasn't targeting you. I didn't charge. I didn't leave my feet. I went to rub you out on the boards and you slammed on the brakes and turned to face the boards. I couldn't react fast enough. But yeah sorry. Funny that only one of was suspended huh? And everyone outside of Detroit stopped talking about this after 5 minutes. Bye Dylan. |

Hey, is it me, or did I just hear something then realized it was my dog hacking up a bone...... Bring it up, Snot!! He'll be alright Clark.
Sorry, voices in my head.
ANYWAY........2 games is a very small sample from which to draw conclusions. So, I'd offer that we're forced to look at trends carrying over form last season. That, too can be dangerous because there's been a turn-over in the player pool, although they are progressing.....
One of the things I am seeing appears to be a continuation of the disparity in SOGs; we're on the short-end. Additionally, time in the D-zone looks to be a touch higher thus far, but continues a trend from last season. Thankfully, Greiss is there standing on his head again. Hopefully, Ned will progress well and start doing much the same. It's a requirement for Detroit G-men to have shoes on their heads, the defense makes it so.....
I'd agree that the guys seem to be passive. "Be. Aggressive. B. E. Aggressive" seems to have fallen on deaf ears here. There needs to be a mentality that o-zone time is the standard by which the effectiveness of a system or player is judged, methinks. Hard to say as I'm not Koool like some of the others here, but something does seems to be not improving from last season.
Now, PK looks pretty OK, maybe a bit better at clogging the passing lanes at times. The PP is MUCH different this year; great passes, not forcing shots, patience. Not much in PP production, but there seems to be a sense of calm in the PP. Nice to see.
I just want to see improvement, and there are indicators of that happening. Sustain the improvement in GA v GF, improve the PP, improve PK...improve the d-zone play, be stronger in the o-zone attack. It's going to take some time, but I feel things are looking somewhat better..... |

I thought I heard/read somewhere that Stetcher was nursing an injury?
Also it hasn’t been Osterle, it’s been Lindstrom through the 1st 2 games... |

I think maybe Redmond said that on the broadcast or something, but I don't know if it's true.
Personally I hate the fact that Stecher isn't playing. I think he is no worse than the third-best defender on the team, arguably higher, and also better than all the lefties (including Leddy, but especially Staal and DDK).
I get the desire to run LHD-RHD on every pair, and I get that he's not going to take a roster spot from either Hronek or Seider.
I strongly disagree with putting Lindstrom in the lineup over Stecher, as I don't see Lindstrom ever being more than an exceedingly replaceable, dime-a-dozen third pairing guy.
Honestly, even playing Stecher on his weak side might still be an improvement over Staal or DDK on their strong sides. |

Bingo. Lindstrom has such low ceiling. Not sure what people see in him. Staal and DDK are pretty worthless. Playing Stecher at least builds some trade value so he can get flipped for a mid-round pick. Oh well. Long season. DDK should get hurt within the next 5-10 games...

Jeff Blashill says Troy Stecher and Jordan Oesterle are both healthy. Blashill says that’s not an indictment on their play, thinks both have been good in practice, would be confident putting either one in games & that they could help DET win. Says he’ll get them in at some point.

For the Wings, Stecher has been an awesome asset. Not gonna contend for the Norris or anything, but the kid holds it down. Lindstrom is too young and has SO much more development to go through before being played in front of a vet like TS. Your assessment of Lindstrom, at this point, is spot-on in my opinion. And to HBs point, getting him some good numbers (in Detroit-speak, nothing worse than a -5000, etc....), we could net a decent return (MAYBE a late 3d at VERY best, more likely 4th or so......).
