But I thought the Flyers were ready to give up assets for him. Because upgrading from Martin Jones to Khudobin was a big priority. Now they had a chance to get him for free and they passed. While I personally think NYI needs to throw in the towel for this season, the stats used in the article are pretty bizarre. So if they win 40 out of 59 games then they have a 4% chance of winning the division. Neat. But NYI fans are probably more interested in what gives them a decent shot at just qualifying for the playoffs. Historically you are looking at around 95 points. So they don't need to win 40 games. Something like 32-14-12 gets them to 95 points. Or 34-16-8. Lots of combos. No idea where this random number of 40 wins is coming from. Going 40-18 with zero OT/SO losses gets them to 99 points. Irrelevant.

60 ROW out of 124 games the past 2 years despite 2 Conference Final appearances. Grossly overrated. Old slow team got older and slower this past summer. I don’t think they’re as bad as they are but they’re not an elite team and haven’t been. Peoples expectations were way too high. Bubble playoff team at best the past two seasons and that’s what they still are.
