Very good points of why the Flyers should not entertain acquiring DeBrincat. If fact, I can't think of a single good reason to go after him. And this is exactly why CF will do it. The Flyers have zero ability to look into the future - even one week. |

Happy 4th everyone.
I totally agree with all Bill’s points regarding Debrincat. Therefore I have little doubt that Chuck is going to make the deal…

With Ellis’s health so uncertain it almost makes too much sense for them to draft a RD with the 5th ovr. Granted you draft for the future and we have nothing in the minors. As much as we need goal scoring it’s time to build from the net out. |

Adding Debrincat doesn't make sense for the Flyers. It's not surprising that they're seriously looking into it as the continue their disastrous approach that has this team in quick sand for a decade. |

1. I think Fletcher and company know Ellis will not be back any time soon. They will, or should, act accordingly.
2. They will add a vet backup. Can see them rolling with Hart and Sandstrum.
Knuble also coached his kid a few years at Belle Tire. Very down to earth guy to talk to. |

#5, Frost, Brink..........I kid
Why would a rebuilding team want any of those players you mentioned?

Any chance and would it make sense ...
Would love to see if the Verbeek could see if you guys would be interested in swapping #5 OA for 10 & 22.
You could address scoring wing @ 10 or if Korchinski is still available draft him from Seattle. Big mobile LHD. And use 22 for scoring wing.
I would love to see us draft Nemec. |

Undrafted Myers nobody's stud dman. Just a low cost roll of the dice on some decent physical skills but no hockey IQ. Never grew into his position imho. |

The action bias directive from Dave Scott is akin to the unwashed masses in the stands that yell “shooooot” and “do somethin wit it!”
There is a 100% chance that Fletcher will try to make a splash this off-season. Get your popcorn ready. |

Personally if I was GM of the Flyers...I would no question entertain that proposal.
I might try to grab a couple Swedes or a winger and one of the defensemen.

Trading for Debrincat, signing Johnny Gaudreau, bringing Giroux back. I understand why anyone would be enticed by the thought of putting a Flyers uniform on any of these guys but wanting and doing are two different things. I want all of these players but I understand why the Flyers shouldn’t do it. There really shouldn’t be a “retool” at all. |

Besides Jiricek and Nemec, there are 10-12 other RHD projected to go in the first 2 rounds of the draft. It is going to hurt if the Flyers walk out with zero of them. It stinks not to have a 2nd round pick or extra 1st.

It's a weaker draft. If the Flyers have the potential to draft a first line forward or a top pair defenseman with the #5 pick. They have to use it. They need quality more than quantity. The Flyers have plenty of lesser talent. They need the straw that stirs the drink.

Thanks Bill for even keeping us updated on a holiday! Great points indeed on the risks of a move for ADB. As some have said, it makes no sense but Chuck and company are going to be desperate to make the playoffs, sell merch, etc, so it's concerning to think what they might do. Enjoy the holiday, everyone! |

That has always been the achilles heel of the Flyers, drafting higher in the 1st round always seems to be in a "weak" draft. So they ALWAYS go with who they are suppose to...
The problem is that doesn't work out too well for them since the majority of the time quite a few players that get drafted after they pick tend to turn out to be some gems.
2012 was considered a "weak" draft and still is, but...
5) Morgan Rielly
6) Hampus Lindholm
9) Jacob Trouba
11) Filip Forsberg
16) Tom Wilson
17) Tomas Hertl
18) Teuvo Teravainen
19) Andrei Vasilevskiy
So people can keep riding that "weak" draft train, but all I know is, at least during the modern salary cap era, there hasn't been a 1st round where some stars or some really good players haven't come out of it. Sure the chances of a team hitting a mega superstar is low, but I would still be happy getting a David Pastrnak or Dylan Larkin.

I think the Flyers should try to find out what it would cost to get Kirby Dach. He’s an RFA with a slow start in his career but I think he has breakout potential in the next few years.
