The Flyers are 21st in ES scoring, 32nd in PP%, and the 4th line is pointless so far, so there's a lot resting on Torts' top 9. |

The Flyers lineup is just too stacked to be able to fit in their leading ES scorer from last season. That's how bright the future is.

Briere asleep at the wheel. Time to take a walk down to the head coaches offices for a meet.
I’d say take mouth-piece Jones with you but he probably agrees with Tortotrella. |

The Flyers are 2nd at generating chances, Vegas is 4th at limiting chances and the Flyers generated chances against them.
The Wild top 6 defensemen are probably better than the Sharks but they’re terrible.
Columbus beat a rested Wild team on the 2nd night of a back to back getting 54 shots on goal. This will be no contest if the Flyers play like they did against Vegas.

Niskanen, Braun, Ellis and Ristolainen ain't walking thru that door anytime soon, so I guess this is the next best RHD available. |

This is really a joke now. Frost is signed for two years at $2+mil to be our 2nd line center and the coach is sitting him. Slap in the face to GM.
Unless Forester breaks out tonight and has a multi point game, Frost needs to be in the line up. We can't trade him for anything of value thanks to Torts.
Always hated that whiny little female dog coach.
"Sell the team!"
"Let Frosty play!" |

Still, unless he bet on games last season while still on the roster and under contract, it seems like he would have grounds for appeal considering he has no contract and is not holding out.
He is basically a hostage of the Senators poor cap management.
That being said, if all of this is because the Senators knew he did it and was under investgation, that is some NSA level information security management. |

I don't know about 2C, but he's clearly one of the three best options for playing center that the Flyers have on the roster. And even fans who don't like Frost will have to now admit that this is a weird situation. Briere is going to start getting questions from the media about it, and not just the local media. |

I don't pay attention as closely to the other teams as I do the Flyers but I find it next to impossible there is a player more frustrated than Frost. |

Eeeeek! For those of us who wanted to trade for Pinto, maybe we were wrong. Suspension for 41 games for gambling? 😳 |

Can't Briere still take advantage of Ottawa here? Garrioch tweeted that he may have to sign the QO in order for the suspension to kick in and that Ottawa has rescinded all of their previous offers.
They only have 42k worth of cap space and suspended players count against your cap. |

from a guy who does not hate Torts, likes most of what he does, not all, this is just ridiculous and reeks of favoritism, there is a way to get Frost in and not sit youth. Torts is to much of a pxssy to sit ND, or put Laughton on the 4th line.
Bill, seems like the media will ask about Frost but lets Torts get away with "no place in top 9", does no one push Torts and drill down as ask why not sit another vet, get specific so Torts has to answer? |

He doesn't have to have a signed contract for the suspension to kick in according to Elliotte Friedman

This whole ESPN+ to watch the flyers is annoying. Already two games this season have required a subscription. I am not buying ESPN+ in addition to my Xfiinity package just to watch flyers games, as I am not interested in other things on that channel.
I suspect that ESPN+ os going to end up decreasing hockey viewers over time. |

I'll translate that. He doesn't have a good answer or he's not going to admit that he's being irrational.

On the Frost situation, I can see both sides of the argument. He did finish last season well, but he really didn't have a good start to this year. Other youth players certainly contributed more.
Now there is the argument that the coach should play youth players instead of veterans. I believe that it is more nuanced than this simple statement. Yes, you do want to play youth players (and there are many on the team). However, you need to balance them with a veteran presence. Throwing out an entirely youth team has not always been shown as a good way to develop for the future.
Showing the youth how to play and also developing a good culture are also needed for the future. A veteran presence is needed.
This team certainly has places for youth, but they need to earn it. Now, longer term, does sitting Frost help him develop, - no. But I suspect it won't be too long until he is given another chance, and hopefully he will come back with a good attitude and work ethic. |

Ill admit I bought it. The one positive is that I can watch Boston College games to keep up on Gauthier.
