I think the timing of extending Poehling and Tippet are interesting. I think they are both good moves, but I have to think that the timing is reflective of th Gauthier situation. It's good for players, veteran and young players, to see that other players do want to stay with the Flyers.

Saw this coming, didn't like the way the Flyers looked against Dallas even though they won that game seemingly handedly. This all-star break could not come at a better time. Get rested, recharged, Tippet back and then head on the stretch run of the season. Hopefully make a few trades to free up some spots for more younger players.

I like Poehling, just wish he could finish his chances more.

The timing had nothing to do with the Gauthier situation. It has everything to do with the Flyers like both players and both are in the final year of their current contract.

The Flyers completely dominated the Dallas game. Hopefully yesterday's game helped you to recognize how much better Pasternak is than Konecny. Konecny is a fine player but he is not in Pasternak's class.

I look forward to tomorrow’s Mondays with Meltzer. I assume you’ll talk about the contract extensions, current losing streak in the big picture, and final stretch.

In regards to Jason Mertetus saying that the fan comments about over playing the forwards, is over blown: I’d ask why? TK and Coots (and others including Laughton) both look gased. Coots and Atkinson took over a season off of hockey and are older. What proof do you have that they haven’t been run down by over use from the coach? In one breath he says they need a break and in the other he says not to blame the coach. Can you really separate the two?

Why? They should be trading Laughton for young assets if they're going to trade him. Monahan is also a pending UFA.

If that was the case he would have cost substantially more money

Laughton for picks or young prospects. Seeler Walker risto all should be shopped starting now. Hopefully DB is getting a head start on the TDL. The team is lifeless right now and they just need to start accumulating assets.

It’s funny to see the Philly media circle the wagons around the Flyers. Charlie “Water Holder” O’Connor in his latest tweets blaming the schedule more than the coach and his ridiculous deployments.

You need an intervention. It is not healthy having 16 hour posting sessions daily.

Is it a cry for help? If so we are all here for you.

Definitely be open to deals now but the market is going to expand a lot more closer to the deadline. A lot of teams are cap strapped.

I’d be starting the conversations now then pull the trigger closer. Let the gms know their avail and let the bidding wars begin. I think the idea of sending Walker and seeler together to a team makes sense. Really solidify a teams 3rd pair.

Good GM's always find a way to get thing done. Don't want to hear any teams are cap strapped excuses.

So who do you look to move? Lets hear some names.

I pull the trigger when the deal makes sense to me. I am not putting any time frame on it if I was the GM.

As far as a bidding war only 1 player has that type of value imo, TK.

It is important to acquire as many picks/ legit prospects at this dead line. Then use what you acquire to possibly increase your draft position or take advantage of teams who may want to dump players.

Weird you didn’t like the way they played against Dallas….Torts called it the best one of his coached teams had played in years….when you are out shooting a team 25-1, there wasn’t a lot to dislike.

I agree…I see them setting a price and when and if a team wants to pay the deal gets done. Apparently DB continues to actively engage a bunch of teams.
