Yes, Peter White is one of the ultimate examples: three-time AHL scoring champion, perennial top line/top PP unit center in the top minor league. Fourth-line forward in the NHL who had to try to find other ways to contribute because other centers were a stride faster and bigger.

Was White ever really given a top 6 shot? Dring those times size was king. Hackborn as well put up huge minor league numbers. Always liked him.

As I have read over the years, and as Bill said, his skating never seemed up to NHL standards. He could think the game well but just couldn't keep up the pace. My eyes told me the same thing but what do I know. I never played competitive ice hockey so my opinion on the matter is irrelevant.

I get that I think in today's game he would probably get a more of an opportunity is all.

Jones was asked aobut the goalie situation in Philly and the one thing I noted in his answer is he didn't mention Kolosov at all. Not a good sign.

what else he say as really not interested in listening.

he is smart not to mention him as it is probably a fluid situation. Wouldn't read anything into it. Though if he doesn't come over the optics once again will reflect badly on the gold standard.

Was he discussing the goalie situation on the Flyers or in the organization as a whole? It matters.

Interesting that Jones basically said it’s not a rebuild… they can’t and will not tear it down…which again is what ANY rebuild encompasses ….they hope to add to the current group and build to what they already have…. Again that is not a rebuild… jonsey basically said it really is a tough way to build a team… “they are threading the needle” … his words.
Jonesy harped on the importance of “culture”… something some around here do not seem to think exists. Talked about becoming “relevant” again… that I can get behind… talked about getting Lucky in the draft is all part of it…

At least we know what to expect….we know that the culture build makes Laughton pretty much untouchable. It’s about the Actions….not the rhetoric and after watching the Flyers in action this off season it’s pretty apparent what the goals are and the plan is.

I normally don't respond to you, you know that. I've been thinking about changing that. We've had our differences in the past. While I don't agree with you on everything. I think you attempt to be reasonable and objective.

In saying that, I'll address the culture issue. I don't think there is anyone, myself included, who thinks that culture does not exist. My point of view is this. If you overvalue or place building culture higher than building talent and skill with the right mix of players. You will not be successful. Build the talent skill and speed with the right mix and the culture will take care of itself. If, which in the Flyers case is true, you believe in a culture of the past, a legacy of the past, which for the Flyers is all but dead and has been for a long time. You will not be successful. That is what we see playing out with the Flyers. An organization overly focused on outdated and ancient principles such as culture and leadership that is not in tune with the modern day NHL. They believe that culture is more important than talent and skill. It infects their entire being.

The question he answered was from Neil Smith, who asked him now that Hart is gone, what his thoughts were about the goaltending with Ersson and Fedotov, could Ersson be a #1 goaltender and can Fedotov make the jump the NHL. But then Jonesy went into the young goalies in the system, mentioned Egor Zavragin and Carson Bjarnason as depth and balance. Didn't mention Kolosov at all and no one asked any follow-ups.
