This guy does a deep analysis on Nygard as a prospect. He is very positive on him. Figured you guys would find it interesting.

Charlie Stramel from Rosemount, MN transferred from Wisconsin to Mich State this year as he had been sinking down the depth chart. He's a Wild prospect. Interested in seeing how he fares in his junior year.

Thank you so much! I have been tiptoeing a bit around this year’s first rounder. It’s a powder keg. But, he is coming to camp and ASP isn’t. Starting to hear rumblings that the staff was really impressed at prospect camp. I have to watch him play the Dallas prospects game and see if he gets preseason games. Don’t want to get on a sugar high, but am seeing some glimpses of people being impressed beyond what they thought.

My “hockey buddy” has season tix to MSU. He sees a lot of them and the Griffs. When I was in Middle School (late 88, 89 ish) MSU was really good. Watched them vs. U of M. Lately U of M gets a ton of love but the Green and White seem to be storming back

Seriously? Pacioretty?
He's been injured every season in like forever.

And BTW, Watson PTO is DUMB.
SY should concentrate on sighing Ray and Mo.
This dude is seriously starting to piss me off.

Not sure how prescient Michael Farkas is as a scout. All of them have their biases and he is very much overt about his projection preferences of creative players over vanilla ones even in cases where the production doesn't match. I.e. Ovechkin is a playing style he simply doesn't like as it is predicated on simply physical domination rather than cerebral plays. But anyone giving in depth video breakdowns for free is worth following IMO.

The best person I know who actually has some insight into the signings is saying what everyone else is. Mo is close, JB is close but Raymond is not. I don’t know if it’s $ or terms but for some reason that’s not going anywhere right now.

As for the other two, this is a bottom 6 look at some grit. I said in the Watson write up that I wasn’t thrilled. He played 33 NHL games last year for TB. For Pacioretty, yep he’s injured a lot. Again, not looking at top 6 impact. I understand the frustration, I’ve shared my own. My understanding is that it’s constant work with Mo but for some reason there’s been a “breather” with Raymond. Once we hear numbers we’ll probably understand better. Until then, there just isn’t anything to report. That doesn’t mean that nothing’s happening. Boston is having Swayman issues and the numbers being “floated” are all over the map. Just rumors for rumors sake. I hope there’s a signing soon. The gap on cap projections is at least one factor in general (not necessarily this specific instance). No one knows what is going to happen and it’s problematic for big ticket deals.

Amen. It’s a lot of work and I admire the effort. I still have people who think Ovi is overrated. They don’t hesitate to say it. At a point where only one person in the history of the game has scored more goals. You know where he’s going and he still scores and has for a while. There has to be at least credit given to the numbers. Even Gretzky is fairly complimentary. That’s worth something.

Congratulations on the C!

If the Wings seriously consider Pacioretty, it just tells me Yzerman is not truly interested in his players and their development. There are players in GR that deserve to make this roster. The only reason I can think of to bring Pacioretty in is for a PTO to try to boost the competitive level of the youngsters.

They also like to overfill the roster for camp. The last ones I went to they had like 4 teams to start. I think this all sticks out because nothing else is hitting the cycle. One writer simulated a trade on puckpedia and wrote an article about it. It’s just that dry right now.

He signs a 2-way and lands in GR, Wings call him up once in a while for a game or 2 for "protection", no big deal.

Oddly enough, I have season tickets to Both UM and MSU. I’ve had UM tickets since I was a student there, and now that I have kids at MSU, I figured why not? I went to a lot of MSU games last year, and while UM gets higher profile prospects, Adam Nightingale is a far superior coach and he is going to build a powerhouse. Trey is the heart and soul of the team and they play old school college hockey. There’s nothing like Yost, it’s the best barn in college hockey, but I really enjoyed going to MSU games last year, even when I angered my kids by wearing Maize and Blue when they played UM.

Oh man, I hope you rented a car for that one (and took out the waiver). In all seriousness, it does feel like a resurgence of the Green and White as a team. Yost has always been awesome, saw a lot more games there (lived about 20 mins away) but U of M is more of a showcase of some of the high end prospects (opinion). Hoping Augustine has another solid year in net and Savage has a good season with the C. That’s no small accomplishment. Awesome that you’ve been part of the programs and seen so many games! Ironically I think it was Pacioretty leaving that opened the spot Glendening got as a walk on (also not easy). I think LG had to go the hard way at each level. Walk on at U of M, PTO in Toledo, PTO in GR, PTO in Detroit and built a career as a PK/Grindline centerman. Would love to hear some stories about the stuff you’ve seen in your time.

Possible. Still has to hit waivers to get back and forth. We’re at a point where (if they stick) someone his hitting the waiver wire. Really would like to have seen Soderblom grab a physical role and use his frame well. Not an easy gig to be a PK/lower minute D zone forward.
