With more prospects going to the NCAA, it seems inevitable that the CHL agreement will have to amend their standards on 19 year olds or else they will lose elite prospects to the NCAA who will have more control over the start of their careers. The PIT 2023 pick Brayden Yager is an example of a player that would likely benefit in the AHL instead of getting 2 pts./game in the WHL.

I think that’s already heading in that direction. As soon as the NIL and revenue were settled by the courts, a few agents opened the complaint to the CHL. The rules aren’t new, but once $ was available in college Agents were all over it. That made way for other doors to be opened. The “Q” is already concerned with a lack of 1st round representation, now the CHL sees a shift coming. What I’m really interested to see is if players are shifted out of the NCAA with an influx from the CHL, will they choose the CHL or Europe? This is fascinating stuff, a lot of which is long overdue
