"With what they were willing to give Rantanen, Marner use that as leveridge. "

You might want to take a BASIC writing course.

Dewar and Timmins for a fifth should help them make the playoffs.

"BASIC" is an old programming language.

Example :

10 REM This is an example of BASIC code
20 PRINT "FACK OFF!"
30 GOTO 20
40 END

Brad Treliving did an impromptu availability here in Utah to address the Mitch Marner reports. Didn’t want to get into any details

That would be the only way the Leafs could get better if they lost Marner for nothing.

They would have to suffer 2025/2026 to have the chance to leave enough cap space to even have a chance at McDavid who would probably command 16-17 AAV if he decided to leave Edmonton as a UFA.

Seems pretty simple. If Carolina calls and both their high stature player and yours are pending UFAs, why wouldn't you say hey Mitch would you block this? Everyone is negotiating a big decision right now, for all they know Marner goes yeah actually I love paw paws and Trump and the Hurricanes are good, who knows what a guy wants?

If he says no then nobody has to waste further time - not Carolina, Rants or TO. It's normal business. People read so much into things, which is great because it's because hockey is really exciting.

Follow up on that XG% stuff ...just took a quick look to see how it breaks down player to player.

Peel it back and most of the team is pretty balanced ..ie. expected aren't significantly worse than actual.

The guys that have dramatically different Expected vs. Actual are Tavares, Nylander, Tanev and McCabe.

My interpretation - Tanev and McCabe get a tonne of time vs. the other teams best and so there's a lot of rope-a-dope low danger ..shot block type poop when they're on the ice.

Nylander and Tavares probably have some "luck" in that they get buried a lot but when they do get an opportunity they finish at a higher rate then most.

That's all I got.

Like you mean that JT is a mature fatherly type who scores the same way once or twice a month (if he's lucky) and Willie is slutty man whore who scores differently every night?

Why do you guys have to drag everything about Willy down into the gutter man, I'm just here to talk hockey.

😂

Although yeah, JT is probably trying to get some sleep, while Willy is seeing more poontang than a toilet seat.

But every time you think the wily old vet is done, he tips one in from the crease.

JT serves up pretty regular reminders that he was a first overall pick, a legit one.

I remember seeing that from a much older Spezza too. Remember how rad Spezza still was in his last couple years? I love Spezza.

Tavares has won absolutely nothing important in the NHL.

He's not Nail Yakupov but to go from "exceptional player status" to winning nothing at the highest level is a little off the "legit 1st overall" pick mark too.

His teams haven't won. Those Islanders teams weren't the 1970s Islanders. The Leafs are the Leafs.

JT's stats alone are those of a legit first overall pick. I don't think that's a controversial take at all, it seems something that has been directly observable since he has entered the league, if you're a hockey fan.
