Carle seems like the perfect candidate. But realistically, why would he choose this Flyers situation over the surely numerous other NHL opportunities that he will have once the season ends?
Really hoping the organization brings in an outside voice. Not holding my breath on that |

To be honest. I think with going from such a strict taskmaster as Torts, that sticking with Brad Shaw would be a good move. I'm not against Carle or Tocchet but Shaw knows these guys. He's developed Risto into a legit NHL 3-4 Defensemen. His work with Drysdale is doing well and he has gotten Sanheim to hit his potential. Going from a Displinarian to a Players coach might be good for development for now. They are still building and need time to decompress after Torts Boot Camp. That's why they're winning all of a sudden. It won't last but I think it's the next stage in their Development. I'm happy with any of these guys but I think Shaw would be a good option too. |

How is sticking with Shaw a good move? He is not different than Tortorella. He is a coach that is apparently going to put Deslauriers in the lineup over actual hockey players. Shaw is extremely overrated as an assistant coach and is simply not an NHL head coach. It would be a really poor choice. Hiring Shaw full time would simply be another set back. |

Though the Hakstol failed experiment causes me some hesitancy, the Carle hiring would be different.
There was a connection between Hextall and Hakstol that raised some flags with me. Hakstol coached his son for three years at UND where he caught Hextall's eye. This was a familiar pattern with Ron who, when employed with the Kings, hired his son's prep school head coach to run the Manchester Monarchs.
Carle has been a terrific college coach. Perhaps this is what the Flyers need at this particular time - a young coach with an impressive record who would be behind the bench of one of the youngest teams in the NHL. And considering that over the next few years the Flyers will become even younger with the addition of all the draft picks Briere has pocketed, maybe it's a good idea. |

It may be a good idea for the Flyers but if I was Carle, I would want no parts of the Flyers. He will be in demand and other than maybe an extreme level of salary. I see no reason why he would choose to coach a team that is not only one of the worst run teams in the NHL but one of the worst run organizations in all of pro sports.

If culture is so important to the Flyers, why would they even consider Tocchet, who doesn't exactly have a stellar history as an NHL coach with his locker rooms (gambling in Arizona and infighting in Vancouver)? |

What’s Gerard Gallant up to? He’s a former Ranger’s coach. That would fit the pattern for the Flyers. |

A bit of an exaggeration there. More out of frustration than in fact, but totally understandable from a Flyer fan perspective. |

I disagree. No exaggeration whatsoever. They haven't been relevant as a team in 15 years and they keep doing the same thing over and over. Ridiculously overvaluing intangibles such as culture and leadership. A flawed model, strategy and ideology in which they just keep cycling through different people without actually really changing. They are an example of perfection in incompetence.

I think the job would be right up carles alley. A young roster with some upside talent. Management seems pretty hands off as far letting the coach be the coach. Wonder if him and Danny have a relationship from when Danny and Matty were teammates? |

Carle 1000%!!! He is exactly what the doctor ordered. I hope Matt Carle liked Philly a lot and that will sway his brother to make his way to Philly. |

I’d be down with this as well. Very important that we get a younger and progressive coach that can develop the young players. I’m not even certain that tocc would want to get out of his contract to come here. I think Vancouver has a club option and he’s done a great job there. |

Brindy just signed an extension last summer, not sure how he feels about how the whole Rantanen situation went down. Highly unlikely, CAR makes it out of the East. I would at least hope Briere makes a phone call to the Canes when their season ends. |

Drop the puck! What’s the hold up? How many times am I going to have to watch that Steve Martin/martin short commercial? |

Nothing like a 4 minute pp to kill any momentum the Flyers had. |

Dorwart did not look out of place. Poehling picked a good time to get hot. Flyers should try to move him in the summer. He'll be entering the last year of his contract and what depth the Flyers have at center NHL ready is bottom 6. Might as well cash in on Poehling. |

I thought dorwart looked decent as well. Good speed and was engaged. I hadn’t heard of him until we signed him. |

Wasn't going to watch tonight but tuned in to see Dorwart and I agree that he didn't look out of place. i'd like to see him getting more than 4th line minutes. And yes, it would be great if we can unload Pails this summer. With Torts gone, it's possible.
