Eric Smith: The Night Time Stood Still - Controversial Loss To Kings When you have only won 13 games out of 51, your going to find ways to lose but Wednesday night's 3-2 defeat by the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Los Angeles Kings raised more than a few eye brows. In the fleeting last few seconds Drew Doughty scored with 0.5 seconds left in the contest. What raised those eye brows though was what looked to be the clock stopping at 1.8 seconds for more than enough time that wouldn't have given Doughty the opportunity to score the game winner.

NHL said they looked at it, and there actually should have been .7 seconds on the clock.

Tough break on the loss. Given the extremely disappointing season for the Blue Jackets, there is no shortage of trade rumours involving the Blue Jackets and it would appear if the could, they'd unload Carter and his contract...but who would take it? I wonder if there'd be a possible trade partner in Vancouver since they have what Columbus has been seriously lacking - depth in goaltending. But I'm not thinking Schneider...I'm thinking Luongo and his "untradeable" contract. Do you see a fit between Columbus and Vancouver and a deal involving Carter and Luongo swapping teams? Not necessarily one for one but they'd be the key components. No chance of it happening until the off-season though....I think Vancouver will ride Luongo and Schneider as far as they go this year and than make a decision to trade one in the off-season.

Columbus, if they want to rebuild properly, shouldn't keep taking on "untradeable contracts". If they were to trade with Vancouver, they should ask for at least Schneider. Get Schneider now, call it a season, trade Nash for another healthy return, draft Yakupov/Grigorenko, then rebuild with a group that includes Johansen(sp?), Yakupov/Grigorenko, Schneider, and Moore. I'll dare say it, it could actually put them ahead of a team like Edmonton who seems to be drafting very forward-heavy, but lack team balance.

The TV clocks aren't the same as the timekeepers clock, which is the one Toronto uses and is the official clock.

What is comical, besides Columbus hockey, is only 5 people posted in 2 hours and that includes Toronto fans.
