What about the embellishment penalties? They penalise a guy for diving but also the guy that was doing whatever when the penalty was given. If he dived then there was no trip!!!

It's the theatrics. I have no particular issue with punishing a player for trying to make an extra case for himself to the refs after getting fouled. It's honorless. I understand refs suck, but as a player you have to trust that they will call the game well and just focus on your job. You get tripped, you should be getting right back up and trying to make a play, not moping around on the ice waiting for a ref to call a penalty. If the refs don't call the penalty, your team is now playing short handed, and that's inexcusable.

And yes, before everyone calls me a hypocrite, I know that the Penguins embellish, and yes it makes me upset when they do it. But you hear people talk about Crosby like he's a soccer player. He doesn't dive nearly as much as people claim he does.

If the league was serious about preventing these injuries caused by questionable hits or pushes or checks or whatever you wanted to call them, they could create a grading scale as I explained we have & use the points system as we do. That way truly accidental hits won't see lost time or money but the repeat offenders will.

If they brought 2 categories into this being accidental & reckless (leaving the dangerous grading out as that will already be there in some type of form or another).

So if you wanted to take Niño on Maatta just for arguments sakes as it was recent & we all discussed it.

That could have been called accidental although frankly it was reckless but anyway, so say the rule is if you accidentally send a player into the boards & he is injured it's 50 points. Then on top, the push/shove was late so as there is now an incident where injury occurred ALL aspects of the incident gets judged. So late push/shove another 35 points, in the back so he gets another 25 points. In total Niño has 110 points so he is automatically suspended for (x) games as the limit is 100. He can go try & fight it but the points will double if he loses.

Now if there was no injury, the match review committee would look at Maatta hitting the boards - which can be potentially dangerous. They find that yes Niño pushed/shoved him into the boards so he gets 30 points penalty as there was no injury. 30 points go onto his total & no further investigation is required as no injury was suffered. It was late ok but are they going to look at ALL late hits?? They may want to but doubt they will. In the back - again no injury so no further investigation.

The biggest danger in that particular example is Maatta hitting the boards in my opinion, & that's why all incidents where people are hitting the boards off their feet or balance or bent down should be looked at.

Now that's just 1 example where points & grading scan be utilised. When I get back tonite I'll throw something else at you in that regard.

I don't even think he gets that much more abuse or harassment than any other NHL superstar. I think you can break down the tape of any elite goal scorer and see them take abuse like that in front of the net. What else is the opposition supposed to do...let the guy stand there untouched?

The difference between a guy like Getzlaf, Perry, Ovechkin, and Malkin vs. Crosby is that the first 4 guys I listed are big enough and have the balls to make it known that if you hit them, they will hit you back twice as hard. So people don't really (frank) with them anymore.

But seriously, I have zero sympathy for Crosby. The guy is the most talented and skilled NHL player of an entire generation and insanely rich. Every single hockey fan would trade places to be him despite all the "harassment" he gets. Boo (frank)ing hoo.
