Well good old Bazza implementing his coaching style to his new team - Martin will see plenty of work like that this season.

Isles will have a good 4th line this year. They will be effective. They will have a purpose instead of a mish mash of players who didn’t make the top 3 lines

With Coots unavailable today, I wouldn't mind seeing how Vorobyev looks playing between Giroux and Konecny. Be interesting to see what the kid can do with that kind of talent on his wings.

At BiggE.....

Depends if he plays today. He had 20min last night. I do expect it, tho. They did the same thing with TK, NoPa and Provy when they were trying to make the team.

I'm guessing he plays. He's what, 21? Don't think playing back to back will faze him that much.

looking at the roster again.

I'd probably roll with:

G-Weal/Vecc-TK
JvR-Patrick-Jake
Lindblom-Vorobyev-NAK

as the top 3 lines

Is it wrong i hope the Flyers come out hitting like the Islanders did. Kind of feel like the Islanders took advantage of a young prospect filled lineup. The hit on Sanheim was something I would hope to see Simmonds or someone else need to Martin about or maybe send a message back tonight. Martin knew the Flyers didn't really have anyone in the lineup that would challenge him.

Yup, I'm hoping Goulbourne is in the lineup.

I'm still not seeing the problem with the Martin hit. Sanheim lost the pass (it was a bad pass) and kind of was caught in no man's land and had to basically start from a stop. He's in between Martin and the puck so Martin bowls him over. Sanheim turned his back a split second before Martin made contact.

I know that the current NHL mindset is, "You hit him hard and clean, so now we must fight," but, to me, it was just a clean hit where Sanheim shared as much blame as Martin for the result. That said, I'd hope they come out a little more fired up tonight.

IMO.

I don't have a problem with the hit, I just want someone in our lineup that will do the same.

How about going with it's September and it's a meaningless pre season game so instead of bowling over a player in a vulnerable position you let up a little on a player?

Biggest laughs from post game comments were Hak with the math problem and Hägg on Shuttlebuck.
Martin was a heat-seeking missle set to pulverize. Neither d-men looked heads up on that play. Probably would have been best to carry the puck behind the net rather than pass forcing Martin to slow down or choose a side. Martin looked like a goon.
Biggest stand out- Myers
Biggest disappointment- Patrick, Konecny, Lindblom not standing out
Happy Hägg getting a look on the PK but that window closes a bit with every goal against. And that is not good for his depth ranking which will come in play when all the d-men are healthy.
All in all, it was one preseason game, and you learn more from failure than success. Best to get the learning out of the way for the kids.

Kind of how i feel. Not saying he didn't need to throw a hit but he knew the player was vulnerable. There were a couple times I felt the Islanders went distances to throw a hit that really wasn't needed. Especially in a September preseason game.

Martin knew the Flyers had not one person in that lineup that was going to challenge him. His line had free roam. SO tonight I hope Goulbourne lets an Islander youngster have it. Kind of like baseball, you throw at my guy then I am throwing at yours. Is it right, I don't know...but I am not against it.

First preseason game on the road, the Flyers always seem to send a kid roster. I won't kill them for losing the game.

Tonight will be the vets from the looks of things and I bet they face Bridgeport.

It's not right, but it's not wrong either if you know what I mean. I think it's about respect for fellow players and culture that has been in the league a long time that really needs to change.
