Sounds like Neal is taking this summer conditioning real serious. He usually heads out on golf trips with buddies like Commodore each summer & he passed this year to train.

Mrazek on a 3 year at 3.2 mill is another good comparable that will keep Rittch's numbers below 3 mill. I think Flames will settle with 3 year at around 2.75 per. Good deal for both.

Good call on Mrazek, although I think he is perceived as a bit of a wild card (i.e. not consistent) and the Hurricanes are usually good at keeping prices down on guys. We'll see!

Neal built a reputation as being one of the meanest SOB's in the league, which is half the beauty of having him on your team.

I don't care who you are, going to back-to-back trips to the stanley cup finals is going to exhaust you. It's difficult to sustain that kind of an edge to your game on a nightly basis when you're healthy & motivated (Tkachuk disappeared for stretches last year too and he's still a kid with lots to prove).

Dumping the Neal contract this offseason would be a huge mistake.

Yeah it was strange last year. He was not producing and he was not being nasty. Lets hope he finds his groove!
