Hate waiting until Wednesday, while other teams already had back-to-backs. What is with these schedulers?

Was looking at the sched, by the time Thursday rolls around, the flyers will have played 2 games as compared to the leafs who will have played 5 meaning we'll have to make these up later. (Haven't looked but normally we have march scheds where it's almost a game every night) This early sched is not doing us any favours but it is what it is.

We don't need the rest now, but we will later. It's a conspiracy

Playing in Prague didn’t do the team any favors as far as scheduling goes.

Jet lag? You could recover from leprosy in less time

We're 1 and 0 with a great showing.........A few days off to actually build the chemistry and pairings (which seem to still be up in the air) with a new coaching staff and new systems really doesnt seem to be the end of the world......

Things I need to know: What is the average recovery time from having various apendages rot off due to leprosy?

Also, the jokers at USA Today in their "semi-scientific" projections for the 2019-2020 season have the Flyers pegged at 81 points. Would anyone here seriously take the under on that?

81? So they think they will be worse than last season?

That is actually laughable.

Thats my take. In order to finish at 82 points last year: the goaltending was a dumpster fire for half the season, they struggled as a team to put the puck in the net (18th in the league), and totally packed it in at the end of the season and went on a protracted losing streak.

So, with the goaltending situation seemingly stabilized and probably not going to be as bad this year, with the addition of Niksanen, Braun, and Hayes... this team is somehow worse? I don't see it.

I'll accept the argument that they're no more than a borderline playoff team. I find it hard to believe that this team (barring tremendous misfortune) is going to be worse than last years team, even by just a little bit.

I guess they are thinking some frequent opponents have improved more than the Flyers

The Devils and Rangers both have huge holes to go along with their infusion of talent. Columbus lost a lot of talent in the off-season, and then there's Pittsburgh and Washington who may or may not be about to begin their long awaited declines.. but who I do not believe have improved themselves significantly.

Not sure about the Devs and Rangers yet, but I completely agree with you on Pitt, Wash and Columbus

Agreed. Unless 4-5 key players, including Hart, suffer long term injuries, there is no way they finish with 81 or fewer points.

Factoring in a few injuries and whatnot, they should finish somewhere in the 90-100 point range.

FWIW, Dom Whatshisname at The Athletic had the Rangers at an 82% chance to miss the playoffs according to his semi-scientific formula.
