JR can be a windbag at times, but he’s totally right. So far that’s the goal of the year, and it sets a really high bar. Not only did Milano pull off a tough move, but it was clean, smooth, and he did it with defenders close. Beaut!

"Kid has talent, I hope he can stick in the NHL this season, he looks to have finally matured."

Yes it was a highlite reel goal but if you watched the rest of the game you would not agree that he has matured. He had 2 other breakaways in the game. 1 he over skated the puck and the other fired it 10 feet wide.
He plays at 1 end of the ice only. He has no clue how to play in his own end.

Nice goal but that move happens from time to time, and Roenick is an idiot and the chance that we look back at that goal at the end of the season and think that was the best one is slim to none.

It wasn’t just the move. Lots of players have that in their bag of tricks, especially when practicing shootouts. It was the smoothness of it, and how he managed to avoid the defenders’ stick traffic. Plus it was a nice distance away.

Look at the replay from above. He narrowly missed the defense’s sticks. Coulda been pure luck, but it did look pretty sharp. I gotta hand it to him.

Don't get me wrong, great goal. Yeah, lots of guys can do that, but with a bit of traffic, and from a distance, picking the corner like that is a beaut. i'm not saying it's not. But we're not even 10 games into the season, claiming goal of the year this early is a bit silly. And to be goal of the year, I expect it'll take something we haven't seen before.

And my comment on Roenick, I wasn't saying he's an idiot for saying that. I was just saying he is an idiot, more as a general comment about Roenick. he was an idiot long before his comments on this goal.
