That is one hugely risky contract. No thanks. |

Montreal should include Jordie Benn in any trade offer. The brothers agree to simply wear each other's old number and it is done. No need to make new jerseys....locker stalls are already set....away you go. |

I think Jamie Benn is still a useful player, but he's definitely slowed down. And he's not good value for that contract. I think Dallas is smart to see what they can get, that contract is already bad, imagine 2 more years.... |

So we have a 30 year old winger coming off a 53 point season carrying a cap hit of $9.5mil for 6 more seasons. I think the market for this kind of asset would be less than robust. |

#1 pick, player and top prospect??? Good luck with that... I like Benn, but as a Minnesota fan, watching players like Staal, Parise and Koivu get long in the tooth, Benn just isn't worth it... Not with that contract...
How about Parise for Benn straight up? |

Agreed with GoCanuck!! $9.5M with that much term for a 30 year old slowing down? No way do i give up anything important to carry that contract. No way a GM gives up what you're rumoring EK |

Jamie Benn costs $9.5 Million per year. He would instantly be the highest paid player in Carolina by a significant margin.
The Hurricanes have $1.1 million in cap space.
The only player they have making more than $6 million is Sebastian Aho.
They would have to trade multiple significant roster players in order to fit Benn in THIS YEAR, let alone going forward when Martin Necas and Andrei Svechnikov require raises.
Literally nothing about they way they've operated since Dundon bought the team and Tulsky was given an expanded role would suggest they would have any interest in adding Jamie Benn, considering his age and contract. |

Jamie Benn in play? Sure he is. Dallas gets off to a rough start so Ek has him being traded. Shocking. Can't wait for the Tyler Seguin rumours. Rinse. Repeat. Seguin wants to be The Man... |

Ek has Carolina missing the playoffs so why not gut the team to fit Benn in? Makes perfect sense. |

Just doing quick math, in order to fit Benn in they'd have to trade two of:
J.Staal
Teravainen
Hamilton
Niederreiter
Slavin
Gardiner
Pesce
Mrazek
Reimer
Dzingel
And even then they may have to add another piece or have Dallas retain salary depending on which two. |

In late summer, Ek's "sources" had Boeser being offer-sheeted, even though he wasn't eligible for an offer sheet. I'm starting to think that his sources are a couple of drunk guys at a sports bar. |

Carolina is just Ek's flavour of the day. Tomorrow he'll have Benn being traded to Philly for Voracek or JVR. Stay tuned... |
