Good, keep that POS out of the league. |

No. The real problem is standing behind the bench looking stunned most games. |

So Anderson is merely a capable back-up? The real solution is to find a #1 goalie.
Solid insight there! |

The issue I believe is their goaltending, but I don't think they need a backup goalie...I think they have a backup...Andersen. What they don't have is a starter. - Eklund

Andersen isn't a starter? Have you ever even watched a Leaf game where he has played? Aside from one bad game he has been lights out (again).
Put down the bong or bottle, you've had too much.
Andersen is the only reason the Leafs aren't at the bottom of the league, he has hidden the massive defensive flaws on the Leafs.
Your take is as cold as the Leafs offense was vs Pittsburgh Sat pm. |

Andersen is a 10-20 NHL starting goalie.
He's definitely not elite. |

10-20 of a 30 team league? So it he 10th best or 20th?
There is a pretty big difference.
I'd argue he is elite based on the # of shots he has seen in the past 2-3 years, the quality of the scoring chances he has faced and how he has performed. He routinely sees in excess of 35 shots per game and many of those are good quality chances, not shots from the perimeter.
Now if you want to say he hasn't been able to shut the door in game 7's when they needed him too I'd agree with you, but his team doesn't help him much at all.
Just my admittedly biased opinion as a Leaf fan AND a goalie. |

Well Ek, you’ve shown once again that you don’t know much about hockey.
Andersen a back up? In what world? |

So I was watching the Rimouski game the other day and you wouldn't believe it but they showed a squirrel water skiing during the first intermission. Makes you wonder where you'd even get a water ski that size. Anyway so it got me thinking, if we can teach a squirrel to water ski why can't babs teach the team to play defense without destroying their offense at the same time given the talent on the team? |

Sorry Ek, your assessment of Andersen is waaaay out to lunch! No he may be not elite but if it wasn't for him, the Leafs would be in 30-31st place right now. This guy has routinely the last few years faced upwards of 35-40 odd shots a night, of course he's going to wilt here and there. The problem is a warm butter soft team defensive system that routinely hangs there tenders out to dry almost every night. Andersen has been the MVP of this team since his arrival. If he goes down with a major injury, then you'll truly see how bad this team defends...and they're atrocious right now! |
