better....but it's still Ottawa. |

Now the Italians will be offended because the Sens are using a Roman Centurion for a logo or Randy Cunneyworth for using his profile. Maybe they should stick to the circle and put something absolutely meaningless in the middle. |

Not sure why Sens want to do rebranding at this time. Better to focus on improving the product on the ice. They don't have to win this year. They have got to play entertaining hockey where the fans are able to see the potential for growth.
Most Canadian fans love young teams where the fan base gets to grow along with the players.
It was always my frustration with the Leafs that they were never committed to a comprehensive rebuild. They kept trading picks and prospects in an attempt to sneak into the playoffs. The Shanaplan was a huge "emotional" breakthrough for the Leafs. Leaf fans delighted through the few years of crash and burn. Most important, they loved the kids even though they may have struggled on the ice.
Sens need to be careful not to take the focus away from the pure joy that comes in watching a young team grow into itself. |

Im all aboard. Even though i was hoping real old skool O would be the main hersey. Its good timing then the 3rd ,5th pick can put it on at the draft |

Perfect time for a rebrand with the rebuild underway. The jersey mockups look great. Worst kept secret. The Sens store was already selling a couple of 2D logo hats this past season. Picked up one for myself quite quickly. |

Which logo? The original 2D one or the revamped 2D?

To be honest, I like the red one in the concept picture, but I'm not a fan of this at all.
Our team doesn't have any kind of a "glory days" history to look back on because we've never won a cup and we never came close in those jerseys.
If we are building a new team with a new generation of talent, I'd much rather a new design moving forward as a kind of visual representation of a fresh start.

I like the Roman soldier concept.
Any chance any minorities will try and get it banned for cultural exploitation or slavery...? |

I completely agree and have been saying the same on Twitter since the news broke.
If we're going for a re-brand, why not actually do something fresh? Does anyone think the old 2D logo moves us up that much on the "jersey ranking"?

The old 2D jersey is on the top 5 of the league personaly and know many people think the same |

Top 5 in the league? Wow, that's quite a stretch for me personally. I'm literally looking at the Sens jersey my father bought me during their inaugural season in 92. While I love the detail of the rest of the jersey, the logo doesn't do it for me.
To each his own, and hopefully it makes many fans happy. It's obviously an improvement over the current 3D.

It could possibly be in the top 5 of 2D jerseys involving historical representations of Roman bureaucrats, but I'd say it's pretty unlikely to appear in too many lists of top-5 of current NHL jerseys. To that point, I can't even name a single original 6 jersey that wouldn't be listed significantly higher, which is a poor start.

As long as I can see the jersey numbers. Need to improve on beige numbers. |

I've never understood why people like the old 2D jerseys so much. I have the white one and it's okay. But we don't really have the history to justify going back.
Teams like the Blackhawks, Penguins, Jersey, etc. Teams with a history of winning. That makes sense to be nostalgic. But we don't have it.
I can see incorporating some older features into new jersey's but I just feel like if the team is going into a new generation of talent and this rebuild. It would be a good idea for a fresh new image and design for fans to get excited about. and something new to really solidify to the players that this is their team to fight for.

Im ok with any and all improvements to the brand while the team is building up.
The 2d logo brings back memories of many solid years of hockey when the Sens dominated peoples admiration and were solid contenders for about 7-10 years.... now we just have to beat the leafs in 1st round at some point.
Off topic question. Would it be best for Isles to win #1 and then next year have another 2, 1st round picks. I know this year is allegedly deep so 13-20 this year could be way better. But 2 more 1st picks next year would set the Sens up to have another deep set of prospects staggered into the system another year later...potentially extending their contending much longer. |

I've gone back and forth on this a lot, but ultimately I'd rather the Isles just give us this years pick.
I don't think the Isles are a great team, but they are well structured and have good goal tending. And in Laf to pair with Barzal and I think they could finish similar to this year.
Considering this is a deep draft, I say just take the pick this year. |

Going back to the 2D Logo is great, it brings back competitiveness, grit and a powerhouse memory of what the Ottawa senators should represent. we are missing that, and have been with our tails between our legs as a noncompetitive team, so i feel this representation of the 2D logo can get that spark back into these players of what we are really about and what we can achieve going forward. |

To St Louis
2020 1st - Islanders
Nilsson
To Ottawa
Allen (cap dump, could be Anderson 2.0?)
Steen (cap dump/veteran presence)
2020 1st - St Louis
2021 1st - St Louis
Keep bringing in the picks Dorion.
Allen could prove to be a sneaky addition in the form of a cap dump by St Louis. Ones team trash is another teams treasure?
Steen is another cap dump that could be resigned if proven to be an invaluable mentor to the young guys. I could see both Steen and Allen being roster plugs for at least the following season.
Dorion and Co. are great with reading goalies.
Pageau trade tree begins with the original first turning into 2020 and 2021 1sts.
St Louis clears roughly 7 million and can try to bring back Pietrangelo with this new found cap space. Could get a great player with the top-23 picks being highly regarded. Nilsson provides a 1B/2A for Binnington at half the cost of Allen.
Dorion gets it done here checking all the boxes. Maximizing asset value? Check. Maximizing cap space? Check. Capitalizing on a team with minimal cap space due to stagnant cap? Check. Increasing veteran presence for the young bucks? Check. Increasing draft pick stockpile? (frank) yeah. |

Thoughtful proposal.
Blues also have some good prospects?
Leafs, Lightening or Islanders might make a better offer. |
