Gushchin will end up being the best player Yzerman takes in this draft.

Were all those predictions before Detroit was actually relegated to #4????
I predicted Laff and the #1 pick......
Of course for #4 I have maintained getting Marco Rossi. I don't believe i have changed on that, but then I am not privy to the Yzer-plan!

I think Yzerman will try and trade up to #2 and take Stützle. But if he doesn’t, I think he’ll take Askarov at #4

They were. I’d done a contest on “where, when” Detroit would pick. Someone guessed 4th and got a gift card. Still waiting for the actual draft now!

I think they'll stick to forwards this year. They were heavy on D last year and this year has loads of talent on offense. Next year projects to have loads of talent on D. I think they'll go heavy up front this year, still be near the top of the lottery this year, and they'll add a lot of D prospects next year.

I like the idea of a Groshev pick. You guys know I want Bordeleau at 32, if He's there. He and Smilanic are the ones I am hoping to drop a bit for 32 and 45.

As for Euros I'd be happy with:

Vierling (2nd)
Andre (2nd)
Viro (2nd/3rd)
Hirvonen (2nd/3rd)
Jurmo (3rd)
Simontaival (3rd)
Zlodeev (4th)
Blomqvist- (as a Goalie flier top of the 5th, maybe with the 4th )
Klikorka (5th/6th)
Chlubna- (6th/7th)
Miettinen (7th)
Oden (7th)
Aho (7th)

But I just want good players, hahaha! So if I am wrong with every one, so be it, as long this damn rebuild starts to see an end on the horizon.

4. Marco Rossi C Some others i wouldn't mind the Wings drafting:

Lukas Reichel LW, John-Jason Peterka RW, Marat Khusnutdinov C, Emil Andrae LD, Yegor Sokolov LW, Jaromir Pytlik C, Joel Blomqvist G, Maximilian Glotzl LD, Artur Akhtyamov G, Pavel Gogolev LW, Vsevolod Skotnikov G.

Reichel and Perterka probably won't be there at 32 though.

For those who want to amuse themselves with a draft simulator and maybe get an idea on who might be available in the later rounds (along some basic info on those players)

Hey all, Vegas is looking for a third party “salary dump” team for Fleury. What would you need as a GM to be willing to do this? (Pick, prospect, hot dogs etc)

Jiri Patera, G. Great looking goalie, young, still developing, GAA has dropped each year since turning pro; WHL last year, 2.55GAA with a .921SV....21y/o, 6'2", 205lbs, Czech goalie, scouts were pretty high on him & seems to be delivering.

If not, VGK has the 29th pick, then nothing until the 3rd rounds (68th & 91sr) so nothing appealing for draft picks.

I've said this a brazillion times, DET needs a GOOD G prospect. I seriously like Rossi & Drysdale, but we need a solid G....Askarov is the best G to be in a draft since....well for a long time. I know it's a risk, no more risky than any other draft decision. Take a flyer on Askarov, 2-3 yrs (just about the time our rebuild is coming to fruition) we could have a stud in net. Until then, sign Greiss (2.47, .921 over the last 2 season). He's 34, so we won't have to carry him forever, or pay out the *** (made $3.3m on his last contract, probably get him for something a bit lower) to carry the water w/Bernie and groom Askarov (or.....Patera) to be the G of the future.

No need to rush into a goalie unless you get him for next to nothing. There are plenty to chose from in the FA market and Stevie will get a stop gap and probably draft one in the usual later rounds.

If we eat some salary for the MAF trade you need a 2nd and another pick or a good almost NHL ready prospect for eating $3M x2yrs. That is MINIMUM!

Nicolas Hague 21 year old 6'6, 220 pound left handed defenseman or next years 1st round pick not lottery protected...maybe both although i'm not sure they would do both.

I would much rather draft one later like Joel Blomqvist, Artur Akhtyamov or Vsevolod Skotnikov. They have just as much of a chance of becoming a stud NHL goalie as Askarov does so i wouldn't waste a top 4 pick on Askarov.
