Too much to give up for Laine.
- DarthKane

More like Chevy would hang up the phone quickly on Stanbo right after telling him to never call again about Laine unless Dach was in the conversation.

"According to Eric Engels of Sportsnet, Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is aware that he may not be able to sign center Phillip Danault if his demands are too high. Bergevin is prepared for such a scenario." This nugget caught my interest. I know everyone is tired of reacquiring former hawks but this is a player that may fit if things go sour with strome.

It would work, he doesn't want to be a 3C, Strome isn't a 3C, Danault wants to move up;

Dach
Danault
Toews
Wallmark

or you could switch Toews and Wallmark

Relative to the rest of the League our Cap situation is not that bad right now. If we can get some ELC's to make an impact, things will not be as dire as many think.

I am still cursing the Oilers for messing things up somewhat for us for their no show during the play in round.

If you are good with the cap your team is "generally" bad.

He'd be getting our 40 goal scorer.

Joe Thorton said he signed with Leafs because he believes they have a good chance to win The Stanley Cup

While the Maple Leafs may prove to be deeper and better than last season, they play the same way defensively and have not significantly upgraded their blueline group. I cannot see this team advancing past one, at most two rounds. I could imagine if they played a lock down defensive team like Dallas purports, and the Maple Leafs cannot open up the throttle to roar ahead.

No respect for their defensive attitude and effort. Hope Maple Leafs do win one round, only to be stopped cold next round. Let them get giddy then let their bubble burst.

Just like Damn Yankees - get the Senators fans hopes up, then have the Yankees beat then to win the pennant on the last day of the season.

Joe Hardy put an end to that....

That would be fantastic, the 4C making $10.5M.

Toews has always been a 3C/4C, its about time he actually played that role.

I’ve just never been a fan of giving up depth for one player. Laine is good, but not that good.

What was that someone posted about a right handed sniper for Kane's line?

I have a trade proposal to announce!

To Winnipeg

Dylan Strome
Alex DeBrincat
Lucas Carlsson

To Chicago

Patrik Laine

- MjulQvist

So you’re proposing a bag of pucks for Laine. Not likely.

Keith and Delia to Carolina for Suzuki and a 1st.

Carolina bolsters their blue line for a run at the cup and adds another Goalie option. Hawks get a high end C prospect plus a low (likely) first round pick.

Forward thinking.
Chicago minus Keith will be a mess on defense. But this is the kind of rebuild trades one considers.

At least I think that’s Kane’s preference. Laine needs a change of scenery, but I think it’s going to take a lot to get him.

If Stan was worried about Saad’s next deal, then I think it’s doubtful that he’d pursue Laine.. the cost is twofold—hypothetically you give up Strome and Keith for Laine, AND you lose out on future signings when he gets $8m on his next deal.

I do this trade in a heartbeat especially with Keith possibly not happy (just conjecture) and the additions of Commesso (draft) and Morris (free agency) to the goalie pipeline.

Ryan Suzuki is supposedly even better than older brother Nick who is on the cusp of being an impact top 6 center for the Habs with a solid rookie year and strong postseason.

Add in a 1st rounder, that's a good deal. Not sure if the Canes would do that, though.

This is a trade proposal, right? At first my thought was that this was a real trade but couldn't find any news on it.

Keeping it about hockey you can criticize Stan all you want but Nagy's offense sucks! Obviously Stan's fault.

Can't see Carolina doing this, at all. They have too many defenders as it is and are trying to unload Gardiner. Maybe they do it if you take Gardiner off their hands! (?)

What does Carolina need with another goalie who is obviously not the answer? More fantasy sports.

They aren't trading any of those guys for various reasons. Mostly nothing they get in return will equal their value.

i m just going to enjoy watching them play out their contracts.

He is a PP specialist. Plus, he is godawful defensively and add in his contract , hard pass. He ain't coming close to 44 goals ever again.
