I was a royal back in the day with Norm Ryder as coach. They/We were a MET league team back then. Pretty decent team.
Pat LaFontaine and Steve Webb as his assistant when he coached his son as a Royal for the Under 16 National Championship in 2012 I believe. Good program if many now on the Island.

Home of the Royals was the Islanders practice rink in the beginning. Superior Ice Rink. Gotta love the old rink!

That is now the Atlantic hockey league, long Island Connecticut jersey philly valley forge and us lol. We just play all the teams as covid messed us up getting into the league. Buffalo area has great teams too the 15u AAA are the national champs i watched them play in the border showdown in Rochester last year and they killed all the Canadian teams. Place was filled with scouts, also thats the rink where the zamboni was on fire. Bill greys

Yes I know, awesome how much it has grown.

NY has become a good seeding ground for sure.

The Zamboni that caught on fire was awesome

Yea that's a quad rink up there too

We are killing all the teams we play id rather lose than destroy teams . Closest game was 9 5 and we played that team in championship and played d and won 9 1. That doesn't help the kids

lots of programs on long Island these days..

Gulls play out of Iceworks.. Syosset. PAL has a few teams.. some out of Northwell (Eisenhower park), some out of Hauppauge the rinx and 1 or 2 out of Iceworks too.
Sharks program out of new Hyde park .. (practice in Bethpage)
Lions out of Hicksville .. Caniague park
Edge out of Port Washington ..
Rebels out of Dix Hills.
Royals out of King Park
Bruins out of Great Neck..
Aviators out of Brooklyn by the Marine Parkway bridge.
Arrows out of Freeport
and the Lightning or Bolts out of Long beach.

A lot of the programs are good depending on the year. some of these teams get 1 or 2 kids from another program and it turns the whole team around... so you may be told they are not very good and they have a new goalie and some kid that was only playing on Winter clubs and they are exponentially better.. so unless someone has a kid in your age group I would just look at their record and who they played.

Ben's notes are clearly not coming from an Islander's fan perspective. I know he isn't an Isles fan, but his posts make it more apparent each time.

He spent most of the year talking about them not having enough offense or good enough defense despite what they did last year and this year in the playoffs. Now b/c we let our 4th best young D-man leave We are totally screwed. .... and NEVER mentions the expansion draft as a possible cause which it clearly was a part of the decision.

I am sure Lou checked the interest in Leddy and when he was not going to get enough he moved Toews instead.. our top 4 of Pelech, Pulock, Leddy, and Mayfield are still one of top in league and the bottom 2 of Dobson and Greene doesn't stink either. Your 7/8 is Hickey or Aho if someone goes down or Boychuk if he is not moved. this is not a defense anyone should be upset with in the least.

Our Goalie situaltion is even better then it has been the last few years when it was one of best in league.

Truly amazing how many NHL players from Long Island and NY these days. Add in the Northeast in general and it's incredible.

Read an interesting article on the Leafs looking once again to find silver (Stanley Cup) in an aging veterans blood but they have only come up with Fools Gold referring to the signing of Grandpa Joe.

Below is a list of others that they signed in the twilight of their careers and it just didn’t work out.

Wendel Clark 2x’s - 1995 & 1999
Owen Nolan - 2002
Doug Gilmore - 2002
Phil Housley - 2002
Ron Francis - 2003
Brian Leetch - 2003
Joe Nieuwendyk - 2003
Eric Lindros - 2005
Patrick Marleau -2017
Jason Spezza - 2019

Leafs love the names. Does it make sense for the Isles to try to sign Chara for a year or better to bring Greene back for a year?

Greene fit in pretty well in Barry’s system and also played well with Dobson. That said your talking about Chara and the size he brings. I think Greene is quicker and Chara is tougher and has that large wing span.
Also has a big shot from the point which could be an asset on the PP.
Tough question, I honestly don’t know which way I would go but it’s hard to pick Greene over Chara I guess.

Would be nice to have Chara finish his career with the Isles. I would give the edge to Chara.
