I can only see holtz, mercer and Foote up front competing that would be any sort of difference maker, others would be more 4th line plug mins

I do think Foote should make the team and holtz and mercer play in Utica at least to start unless holtz really shows he is ready

Would also like to keep the zacha Nico Bratt line together but who knows

Holtz/Mercer/Foote/Hughes/Shak/Walsh are among out top prospects and unlikely to find any meaningful TOI unless contracts move out. I doubt we have showcased Johnsson well enough to recoup anything decent, but perhaps Wood and Zacha can be shopped around for a good return. Both are on good deals and should appeal to contenders looking for quality depth. There seems to be no shortage of PK rumors, but I really don't think he brings in anything good in return, even at 50% retained. It would be nice to see more new faces at forward, but the projections look like more of the same.

Tarasenko was already pre-shopped by the Kraken. There was no interest beyond a 2nd rd pick so they took Dunn instead. I would love to take a chance on that contract, as a RW sniper would be exactly what our roster needs, but you aren't getting a good return on him unless his contract has some serious retention, or you keep him to start the season and he notches 0.5 goals per game. He's only totaled 7 goals over the past 2 injury riddles seasons, so something has to give.

I'd sooner have Vesey on our 4th line than a top prospect. Let them play a big role somewhere else. With just 30 points in 114 games through the past 3 seasons, my expectations aren't high. Especially the fact that this will be his 5th team since 2019.

Mark Jankowski for a PTO as well. Teams always need an extra depth forward to fill that 23rd roster spot. Rather have a vet who will play 4th line minutes than having a kid fill the press box so this is all good.

None of these PTO are too exciting. What others have said as well, this could be Fitz trying to find fills for the bottom of his roster so that the prospects can hopefully prosper/gel in Utica. If that is his thinking I am all for it.

Yup Jankowski is the only one who is interesting here.. If none of the kids(like Boqvist or even Mercer) step up to earn a bottom 6 center role than Jankowski is a decent guy to throw in there. Maybe will provide 10-15 goals, as he's been an efficient shooter, but he would be a boost to the defensive side of the game and a nice addition to the PK. In his 4 seasons in the NHL, his even-strength defense has been worth +5.4 GAR and he has also posted a positive GAR while killing penalties all 4 years as well.

If he gets a contract(hopefully he does 🤞) he can take up some of the "dirty work," and leave easier assignments for Nico and Jack. It will also allow the team to keep Zacha on the wing and not need to put him the 3C if nobody else earns it.

I know he was one of Todd's favorite free agent targets, and he wrote a lot about why he wants the Devils to sign him like a month ago
