Nice trip for the Leafs to Florida. They outscored me by one. That’s six times this year the Leafs have scored one or none. Last year they scored one or none 23 times, they were that futile in 2000-01 as well and that’s the most in the past 15 years. So the cross bar is set and the Leafs are on their way.
I hate to say it, but bring back Jason Allison. Yes he’s slow, but he’s big, he’s a centre, he can pass the puck, and like Stuart Smalley, dog gone it, people like him. Who knows, maybe he’s been taking power skating lessons since the Leafs let him go from training camp last year.
Good news for the Leafs, Vancouver on Saturday night. Leafs haven’t beat Vancouver in the post-lockout era, 0-5-1. Colton Orr and Mike Brown matching up with the Sedin’s, should take care of the losing streak.
Ryan O’Byrne traded by the Habs today. I’m sure there’s a purse joke in there somewhere. Not by me though, way too mature.
This is just the third time ever that Boston/Montreal will meet on Remembrance Day (last time was in 1962). Boston is 2-0-0 in those games, both played in Boston. That’s a long win streak. Habs were 3-0-0 in Boston last season, so somethings got to give tonight. Two streaks going head to head on TSN. Not to mention that the last three games on Thursday’s between the teams in Boston have gone to OT. Let’s recap shall we, 2-0-0 vs 3-0-0, going into OT….write that down.
I’m a big fan of That 70’s Show. I like that Veteran’s Day episode where Red is upset that Coast Guard Bob next door was having a rival party. Kitty put it best, “Red are there any Commie’s less dead because Bob was in the Coast Guard?” Makes you chuckle, but yet, brings a tear to the eye as well.
What do you say about Kovalchuk’s shootout attempt last night? What in the name of Patrik Stefan was that? There’s a street hockey term for that kind of stick, a tooth pick. Ball kept rolling over the blade. Might want to add some more tape.
Microsoft guys brought in the Kinect to work yesterday. I gave the boxing a try. In the words of my cousin Jimmy from Worcester, it was “wicked awesome” No remotes, nothing for a 9 or 39 year old to break, what a great idea.
Caps/Lightning tonight. Washington is 7-1-0 at home, but 5 of the games decided by 1G. Caps have won 8 of their past 9 at home vs TB. Ovechkin has 4G, 8A during an 8 game point streak. Stamkos and friends have gone 0-2-1 over their past three road games scoring four goals. SURVEY SAYS!!!! Take Washington, 4-3, maybe an empty net goal by Semin to make it 5-3, depends on the snow build up around the Tampa net.
As we get closer to Festivus and Christmas, some ground rules. You can put up your lights after the 15th of November but can’t turn them on until Dec. 1st. Christmas tree and Festivus pole are ok to go up the first weekend in December, followed by a viewing of Christmas Vacation. Let’s get a judges ruling on rum and egg nog……………….skip the egg nog.
Offside
On this day we remember and honour those that fought and died for this country. Shame on those who didn’t wear a poppy or didn’t pause for a moment of silence at 11am. You see you forgot, you get to be ignorant like that because of the soldiers that won our freedom. See how that works? It’s not too late, go out and thank a Veteran. Those who went full ignorant today, you’re offside.
