As per source, expect to see Dougie Hamilton back in the lineup when the playoffs start in just a few weeks. Hamilton who has been sidelined since March 4th with an undisclosed lower-body injury, as previously reported is “ahead of schedule” in his recovery, has resumed skating and is expected to re-enter the lineup for the postseason.
With that said, I’ve also been informed by that same source that the star defenseman will be aggressively shopped this offseason in an attempt to open up cap space needed to bolster the team’s scoring.

With a very solid core of offensive minded and cost efficient youth on the back end in Luke Hughes, Simon Nemec, and Seamus Casey mixed with veterans like Brendan Dillon, Brett Pesce and Jonathan Kovacevic, it appears Hamilton finds himself the odd man out. With three years remaining at season’s end and a $9m cap hit, this is money could certainly be better spent elsewhere. The luxury of Luke, the promise of Casey and Nemec, along with the prospect of adding Quinn Hughes in the near future makes Hamilton’s exit extremely logical.
