Good luck to Adam Boqvist, who finds himself in the Big Apple after being scooped up by the New York Islanders.

After de-throning the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night 3-0, the Florida Panthers turn their sights to the second worst team in the NHL this afternoon: the Chicago Blackhawks.
Despite having prodigy player Connor Bedard, the Hawks are 16-30-5. They have been in navigating the rebuild waters for a while now. GM Kyle Davidson has amassed a nice chunk of cap change over his tenure, and many believe the Hawks will open the wallet this summer, but until then, they remain a struggling team.
Despite their floundering, they are starting to put together some semblance of a core. Bedard, Bertuzzi, Nazar, TT, Vlasic, and Soderblom, are fun to watch. And with the promise of young guns down in Rockford (Hawks’ AHL affiliate) getting close to making the leap to the NHL, Hawks fans at least have something to potentially look forward to.
But until then, they remain what they are - a bad rebuilding team.
The Cats should make a meal of the Blackhawks today, but it is a matinee game, and we all know that’s the Panthers’ kryptonite. Add to that, Chicago has been playing a tougher game as of late. Even though they are still losing, they did beat TBL the other night and have put up solid efforts against good teams like the Hurricanes.
A positive for the Blackhawks has been their goaltending. The tandem of Mrazek and Soderblom has been fantastic. These two often stand on their heads each night to give Chicago a fighting chance.
This will be Florida’s biggest hurdle today, in my opinion. But knowing how the Cats can pour on the SOG, I’m not too concerned about them figuring it out.
