I read Timmy P’s blog and I had to respond. New York, Detroit, Philly? Hey Tim and NHL, guess what buddies? We do play hockey out in the Wild, Wild West. There are a few teams west of the Mississippi you know. The fact is that people always talk about how southern teams get screwed. Well as far as I can tell the “real NHL” is only played in a few hundred miles. The only teams that I can tell exist in the States are in the triangle between Boston, Detroit, and Washington. Oh and wait Carolina, because they won the Cup last year. TALK ABOUT A FAIRWEATHERED FRIEND.
Trivia question for everyone: What state in the US do the most people live in? I am no scholar, but I believe the answer to that question would be California. Ashame there aren’t any teams in California. What’s that you say? Three teams play in California. That’s right. Three pretty good teams. The Anahiem/Kings rivalry should be awesome this year, but LA isn’t a super big TV Market right?
Baffling. Anyway, as far as Phoenix goes Tim, small market Tim? Let’s see..Phoenix’s population is smaller than NY, LA, Chicago, Houston, and ….well that’s it. That’s right, Phoenix is #5, almost equal with, let’s see, oh that’ right, Philly! I wouldn’t call Philly a small market, so I get Phoenix isn’t a small market then either. And when you guys continue to call a city like Phoenix a small market, people will continue to believe it is a small market, and that makes everyone look at it like a small market. Shouldn't the goal be to focus on the fact that there is an NHL team in Phoenix. One of the biggest cities in the US?
As far as hockey excitement goes, this team out here is loaded for bear. Jovo, Nagy, Cujo, Comrie, and two guys with something to prove in myself and Owen. Not to mention the best player ever to play the game behind the bench. Could there be anything better for ratings than the Great One mic’d up? Is there a hockey fan alive that isn’t curious to see that. Or Gretz coaching against Edmonton? These are the kinds of opportunities that are missed on a daily basis by short-sighted suits in New York who it took a cancelled season to wake up and get rid of the two-line pass and add a shootout. Something that everyone else knew would help the game a decade ago. Now it is paying dividends!
Tim, you know I love you buddy, but I have to disagree with this one..
