Your annual Arizona Coyotes ownership change has been approved by the NHL.
This new owner, is different from all the rest of the owners. He's rich, I tell's ya! He's going to dump money into the team , they'll get a new arena (most likely by scamming the city and state's tax payers) and the Coyotes will reign supreme.
It’s official: The sale of a 95-percent stake of the Coyotes to billionaire Alex Meruelo has closed (Andrew Barroway will retain 5 percent). Meruelo is expected to meet local media at a press conference this week.
So there you have it: new owner, new found optimism.
Now could this be different from the last seven ownership changes? Sure could.
But who knows? I'm not gonna hold my breath!
At this point, the entire ownership sideshow that this franchise has is boring. If it's not one guy buying the team, it's another. Everyone comes in, talks about how they will be different and how great the team is and whatever.
Then they realize that losing money is lame, and they dump the team to the next chump.
As far as I can tell, this new owner looks pretty good, but I also thought that when the last owner took over. And the owner before that, and the one before that one.
At this point, who hasn't owned a part of the Coyotes and would dare even call themselves a billionaire?
