There are a couple quick updates to share regarding Thomas Greiss and Josh Ho-Sang, and their future with the New York Islanders.
It’s been assumed for a while that Thomas Greiss will be heading to free agency but now it’s basically been confirmed. Greiss’ agent, Rob Petkau, told The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun that he does believe that Greiss is "headed to the market.”
It’s not surprising at all, considering the arrival of Ilya Sorokin, but we know that any small chance of Semyon Varlamov being dealt in order to keep Greiss is practically gone.
In terms of Josh Ho-Sang, a report from The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta said that Josh Ho-Sang had signed a deal to play in the KHL for the 2020-21 season. However, this was denied by Ho-Sang's agent, Patrick Bedell.
Since Ho-Sang is a restricted free agent, the Islanders could keep control of his NHL rights, should they issue a qualifying offer.
