So it sounds as if the Wild and Kirill Kaprizov are getting closer to a deal to lock the Wild's franchise player up for five years, according to the Atheltic's Michael Russo.

If it is a five year contract that is a big win for Wild GM, Bill Guerin and of course for Kaprizov who has just 55 games on his NHL resume. The real worry of course for Wild fans is a three year contract that would leave Kirill to be able to test the free agent market following the 2023-24 season.

We will have to wait and see what the final details of the contract are but the sooner it gets completed the faster the process is to get Kaprizov back to Minnesota and to training camp on time. We know what a mess that can be with work visas and the added constraints of the pandemic so fingers crossed this is truly in the final stages and we have more concrete news to report about the Wild's prized forward.
