The wild wild east. All of a sudden the Senators are two points behind the Panthers with both teams having 5 games remaining. Montreal occupies the second wild card and seem comfortable with a 6 point advantage over the Rangers. Looks like last years Presidents' Trophy winner won't be in the playoffs. The blue shirts get a visit from the Lightning tonight.
Panthers are slumping big time, 0-3-1 road trip, where they scored 5 goals. They are 0-4-1 in their last 5 games overall. In their last 6 games they have scored 2 or less in each one. Marchand has yet to score in 6 games with the Panthers with just one assist.
Leafs on the other hand have won 4 in a row, with just 5 goals against. Looks like Stolarz is taking the reigns as Toronto's number one guy in net. The big Jersey native has won 5 straight games, with a .944SV% and a 1.60GAA.
Marner (3G, 8A) has a 7 game point streak.
Leafs are two points away from a fourth straight 100 point season. It will be just the second for Berube the Blues had 109 for him in 21-22.
I will be back Tuesday morning with a fresh column to tee up Leafs and Panthers.
