Stop laughing Canada, Nike played a great joke on you after all the criticism for the US Olympic hockey jerseys. I guess we all should not have been so smug.

Well If what we say is coming to fruition it's a battle between corporate titans. Union Pacific vs Petro Canada.

What on God's green earth was Nike thinking?

Take a look below at the corporate takeover now nearly complete of the premier event of the Olympics.

Take a moment and put on your tinfoil toques and think about this. Shouldn't either corporation think about some sort of trademark infringement? I mean if millions of people can get on Rob Thicke's case about ripping off Marvin Gaye about Blurred Lines shouldn't two corporate behemoths get a bit touchy about Nike completely erasing the line?

(see what I did there?)

This is a joke and one more reason why national entities need to stay away from sports marketing powers. There are 100,000 graphic designers out in the world looking for work perhaps a contest or call for proposals? I mean look how well that how well that worked for CBC when they needed a new song... oh right.

The point here is simple: that design is uninspiring, poorly constructed, and bland. It's no good enough for the premier national team of a country to wear. Go back to the drawing board, go retro classic from years gone by, just do something. Nike you still have time to fix a big mistake.
