For the second time now, I'll be going over the week’s worth of poll results and providing some thoughts on how they turned out. Here's this week’s Poll Review:

QUESTION: Do you think the Islanders would have to add in assets in a trade to move Leo Komarov's contract?

(Votes: 129)

Yes: 71%
Potentially but the assets would be very minimal: 24%
No: 5%

It shouldn’t be shocking to see which option came out ahead here, though the numbers were pretty staggering. Only seven of 129 voters believe the Islanders wouldn’t have to give up assets to move Komarov’s contract and I was expecting a higher number of votes going there, even if it wasn’t going to be the majority. This is probably just bias, as I look at Komarov’s contract as probably the fourth-worst on the team right now (which is kind of ridiculous to think about). I don’t know that it would take substantial assets to move but yeah, with his age, production and cap hit, Komarov certainly isn’t a sought-after player.

QUESTION: Will Tom Kuhnhackl be back with the Islanders next season?

(Votes: 102)

No: 63%
Maybe but I don’t really care either way: 25%
Yes: 12%

I was a bit surprised that the numbers were so overwhelming here. I think Kuhnhackl is fine as a spare and I tend to side with the “don’t really care” option. That said, I get that he’s taking up a roster spot which the Islanders could instead use to bring someone up or bring someone in. He’s certainly not my first choice but I wouldn’t absolutely hate seeing him back.

QUESTION: Hypothetically, if you were trading Leddy for draft picks (to flip for a forward), what do you realistically think the return is?

(Votes: 83)

2nd Round Pick + other pick(s): 66%
1st Round Pick: 23%
1st Round Pick + other pick (s): 11%

Originally, I thought I agreed with this. Leddy is an aging defenseman with just two years left on his deal, coming off a very poor end to the season. Then I remembered that Barclay Goodrow got back a first-round pick this year and I thought, well, who knows? If I’m someone dealing for Leddy, yeah, I’m probably not giving up a first-round pick at this point. But again, Barclay Goodrow. Anything can happen.

QUESTION: Anders Lee’s goal totals have fluctuated a bit in the past few seasons. Going forward, how many goals per year do you expect from Lee?

(Votes: 88)

25 goals: 58%
30 goals: 33%
35 goals: 9%

Lee hasn’t been able to hit the 30-goal mark in either of the last two seasons and now turning 30 years old this offseason, it’s probably best not to hope his goal scoring increases. That said, he’s still a quality contributor and I think 25 goals is a pretty reasonable expectation, potentially with a couple 30-goal years mixed in.

QUESTION: Would you like to see Matt Martin brought back next season?

(Votes: 121)

No: 65%
Yes: 35%

Martin’s role with the Islanders will likely be taken by Ross Johnston. As a result, I’d probably be even less inclined to bring back Martin than Kuhnhackl because Martin can only play one type of game and he should then only draw into the lineup if Johnston or maybe Cal Clutterbuck gets injured. Kuhnhackl can at least play on the penalty kill and in the absolute worst case, third line as well. My vote here sides with the “No” crowd.

QUESTION: If the trades ideas (in my last article) were an option, which do you go for?

(Votes: 401)

Clear cap space, take a swing in free agency: 66%
Gusev: 24%
Kessel: 10%

Apparently a lot of people read this article, as this poll more than doubled the prior most voted on poll in just two days. Like the poll indicated and I wrote in the article, looking to free agency to add a top forward is probably the best option for the Islanders. They would have limited targets through a trade with just as few potential trading partners.

Check back tomorrow, as the player profiles continue with an article on Scott Mayfield!
