Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.
QUESTION: How would you feel about Ryan Suzuki playing for the Hurricanes in the playoffs if there were injuries?
(Votes: 65)
Not ideal but it wouldn’t be the worst thing: 60%
Not confident in him performing well: 22%
Confident in him performing well: 18%
I’m with the majority here. Putting Suzuki into the lineup with no professional hockey experience certainly isn’t ideal but there’s still a chance he could make a decent transition and I’d probably play him over some of the other forwards on the extended roster if there’s an injury.
QUESTION: Do you think Morgan Geekie will be used in the playoffs?
(Votes: 59)
Yes: 75%
No: 25%
While I don’t think Geekie will be in the lineup for Game One, I think there’s a solid chance he ends up playing at some point, whether there's an injury or a scratch. He may have just two games of NHL experience, but I really don’t think he’d have any issues stepping into the lineup if called upon.
QUESTION: The Hurricanes are a strong enough team to reach the:
(Votes: 53)
Conference Finals or beyond: 34%
First Round: 34%
Second Round: 32%
Well this couldn’t have been much closer. I’m with the 66 per cent of voters who think the Hurricanes are good enough to reach the second round but after that it’s a bit more up in the air for me. Goaltending is still an issue.
