Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Taking a break from the 'Free Agency Options' articles, here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: If it came down to signing Corey Crawford to a one-year deal or simply keeping the Mrazek/Reimer tandem, which would you prefer?

(Votes: 103)

Keep Mrazek/Reimer: 52%
Sign Crawford: 48%

Crawford certainly isn’t my ideal choice but if it comes down to it, he’d be an upgrade in net for the Hurricanes, in my opinion. He’d fill a hole for a year and would give Carolina the chance to take another swing at a goaltending upgrade down the road.

QUESTION: Would you be in favour of the Hurricanes targeting Evgenii Dadonov in free agency?

(Votes: 88)

No: 39%
Only added a starting goalie: 35%
Yes: 26%

Like how I feel about most forwards that the Hurricanes could sign, I’d only be for it if the Hurricanes added an upgrade in net first. They’re not going to have a ton of cap space and have to make sure they use it efficiently.

QUESTION: Would you be in favour of the Hurricanes targeting Mike Hoffman in free agency?

(Votes: 98)

No: 42%
Yes: 31%
Only added a starting goalie: 28%

Again, similar situation for me here. I’d maybe prefer Hoffman over Dadonov but either way, a starter needs to be added first.

QUESTION: Would you be in favour of the Hurricanes targeting Braden Holtby in free agency?

(Votes: 112)

No: 67%
Yes: 33%

It’s a risky signing for sure but I’m not as against it as the majority of readers are, as seen above. With high risk could come high reward and considering Holtby likely wouldn’t break the bank, he could end up being a huge upgrade if he can bounce back, even to an extent.

QUESTION: Would you be in favour of the Hurricanes targeting Mikael Granlund in free agency?

(Votes: 89)

No: 45%
Yes: 35%
Only added a starting goalie: 20%

Of the forwards listed, I think Granlund may actually be the most likely addition, based on Carolina’s cap situation. They could potentially afford to add both Granlund and a goalie, if they make smart decisions with their cap space.
