The world events and the relationship between the US and Canada are of course currently very strained.

This articlee isn’t about this relationdhip, but rather about a factor that may play into the NHL’s Salary Cap as early as next year. And this is a very real problem..

The issue is all NHL players, whether they play for a Canadian or Americans teams, are paid in American dollars. Of course Canadian teams don’t make their fans pay in American dollars, so if the value of the Canadian dollar drops, Canadian teams struggle a great deal to keep up…

This, coupled with a drop in the stock market in the States, is something the NHL is keeping VERY close tabs on. The original plan was for the cap to go up over the next few years by a significant amount.

Teams have been singning players with this very much in mind….

But now, The NHL may have no choice but to lower how much the Cap Cap goes up, if at all, to keep all teams on a more even playing field…
